Dayton Post Game

Mayfield is a dickhead. Suspend him for the rest of the season. These jokers need to learn a lesson at some point, it clearly hasn’t happened yet.

It is getting harder and harder to be a fan of this team, it is one thing to suck on the court- this is just embarrassing.

Mayfield was Major’s first recruit.
Dude Demon and Withers were both arrested within like a year of each other.
Yes, they were and suspended as well…but I thought Major was bringing in a “different kind of kid”, not the “thugs” like Bobby. ::)
Didn’t know marijuana made you a thug.
You see the “quotation marks”…just saying that certain posters on this board are constantly talking about the “thugs” Lutz brought in when the only trouble most of them (except Spears) ever got in was similar to what Mayfield apparently did. :-X
A suspension may be better than a ban, ken49er. You can use playing time & getting back in the Coaches good graces as an incentive to not do the bad things. Kick the man out all together, & what influence do you have anymore?

Make a mistake, & you’re a thug. I’m shocked by the judgementalness & lack of forgiveness of this board. Jesus would tell Mayfield to go & sin no more. Jesus wouldn’t throw Mayfield under the bus like you guys are doing. Maybe some of y’all should try love in your heart. I know I make some jokes on this board, but damn, I don’t hate people like some seem to do.
Okay, time for a little perspective here. NC State football coach Tom O’Brien is a disciplinarian and is known for running a tight ship.
NC State had a couple of starters arrested for possession of marijuana before the start of 2011 football season. They were suspended one game. That would maybe equate to 2 games for a basketball season. They remained on the team and played the rest of the season!

If anything, I’m the only one NOT on a high horse, Lew.

You either have poor memory or haven’t followed our b-ball program long.
I started following in 2005. Looks like the last time was Withers’ DUI in 2004.

Honestly I really could care less how we won as a program as long as we win. If we need to have illegal backyard BBQ’s and TA’s writing papers to get us to win the NCAA… That’s fine with me. All I would ask is that we not get caught.

This thread has indeed become comical.

Just a few random thoughts that popped into my head over the last couple of pages (the reading of which cost me a few minutes of my life I’ll sadly never get back).

-Using marijuana at some point in your life makes you a thug or a gangster? Then I guess, at one point in my life, I was a real gangster myself. As were/are a great number of the successful, upstanding individuals with whom I reguarly associate. The kid made a mistake. Then he got caught. Ever done that before? I have. Happens to the best of us.

-Demon had weed charges. Also, for God’s sake, have we forgotten the incident with him brandishing a handgun and threatening to shoot someone over a HAIR DRYER?

-Curtis Withers didn’t just have a DWI. There was a hit and run charge attached as well. He hit a car in a parking lot because he was too sloshed to handle parking his car, and then he hauled ass.

-SCK makes a post that I 100% support, don’t find overly humorous, and completely agree with. Is it a full moon or something? Well said, Kenny.

-The next person who tries to compare the Mayfield situation to the Spears debacle in serious context should have the bejesus slapped out of them.

-Eason…just. Wow. No.

:)) :)) :))

SCK HOF

Pretty sure Luka was Major’s first recruit.

Weed=no big thing, but it is against the law- sit him 2 or 3 games to send a message. At this point it really doesn’t matter anyway.

A few on here are going to blast Major regardless, ignore them until the end of next year and then either laugh at them, with them or tell them to f*** off, that’s when we should know if Major’s way will work.

We play 3 freshmen and a soph big minutes, rebuilding is like that and you’re gonna hit bumps.

When we get rid of the shameless gunners Lutz loved, we may be on to something.

I have changed my opinion on one thing- Briscoe can not play 2G in against decent competition and in a structure. A couple times last night in big situations, he simply couldn’t get his slow, wind-up shot off because someone closed out on him. Kills us not to have a competent 2G.

clt says we cannot get the Shamari Spears Center For Children Who Can’t Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too operational quick enough.

I think Demon Brown is working on something similar.

Hey, we won when our players were breaking the law. Maybe this is a sign we are finally recruiting the right players again.

Last night was a game we should have won, very much like the SLU and GWU games.

Whew…this is ugly but I want to be positive. So, I’m going to predict that down the road we will look back at this as the end of the dark period in Niner hoops. Hard to see right now but better days are ahead.

I hope. :-[

Just thought I would try to bring a little optimism to the thread.

Agreed.

How about if he kicked everyone out of D1 who got charged for it?

Let’s let him have a free ride the next two years then, even though it’s illegal.

SCK is being selectively moral.

He’s on record in here as saying we should cheat to get players and win.

Guess smoking weed is worse than paying players and breaking NCAA rules…

Maybe this is the culture change he spoke of??
