DeMario Mayfield 6-4 SG UGA transfer

well said 2002.

follow him at www.twitter.com/dmayfield2
He could have been a casualty of a new staff looking to go in a new direction. The assistant that recruited him to Georgia is bringing him to Charlotte, which makes me feel more comfortable.

I’m not going to b**** about a transfer PG listed at 6’4" who was a 3 star recruit that was recruited by ACC and SEC Schools when we have had some putrid recruits brought in over the last 12 years who were not nearly as highly rated and recruited by much lower level programs.
What the heck are you talking about??!!

Do you have to be so harsh? I think the Observer does a fine job. If there is any truth to this onlineathens.com story, I am sure The Charlotte Observer will share the info at the appropriate time.

that player was a four star and the top rated juco guard in the country so saying lower rated recruit is a bit inaccuarate.

I wasn’t talking about JUCOs, but I am sure someone with some time can come up with a pretty hilarious list of players brought in previously and it would make them thing twice about having their doubts regarding Mayfield.

article states he was AAAA player of the year during his Senior campaign.

The 6-foot-4 Mayfield, the state's Class AAAA player of the year in 2009, left Georgia in search of more playing time after appearing in 18 games and averaging 6.4 minutes per game as a freshman.
Typo - should have read AAA POY.

Wasn’t Wilderness the AAA player of the year in Georgia also?

Thanks Run!

Bingo.

clt is pretty impressed by the in depth coverage of the newest 49er. the observer is truly showing it is the local paper of record.

maybe they’ll notice him when he walks on the f-n court.
Btw, what ever happened to
Mike Persinger? He used to post here.
He was banned. It all started when he admitted he would never give us fair coverage. Then C49er started a massive email campaign to the Observer’s parent company and most of us joined it. Meanwhile cltniners Niner89 HP49er Over40 Metro 6PackJoe 49erAlumnus FootballNow NinerWupAss and others kept posting links of other schools receiving better coverage by their local papers and Mike started showing his ass.

Was he really banned? That’s hilarious.

Not to burst the bubble but the writer said:

Note: I concede that I haven’t seen these guys outside metro Atlanta. Just going on a few things I read and on recruiting chatter.

Franklin is about an hour and a half outside of Atlanta, so he may never have seen him play and made the vote.

it’s also called, ‘shooting-yourself-in-the-foot’

Wasn’t David Booker also highly decorated, and who can forget about Martin Iti?

what do you consider highly decorated. if anybody in the rivals 150 can be considered highly decorated then you can add guys like dewhurst to that list. saying that some guys who have been highly ranked have failed isnt a good justification for taking a guy that isnt.

Where do you get that from? Here is the proof that are incorrect my good man.

David Booker was top 150 though so I guess I’m proving your point.

Yep, he was. They dropped him out of the rankings in the final after he signed with us.
