Just how bad do you think we will be next year? Thatās an honest question. Iām not sure what to think.
Major is a dead man walking. He needs a miracle.
10 wins bad.
If we donāt hear something from the AD real soon, then I think he is here another year, probably just due to the financial obligations related to honoring Bobby and Alanās contracts. And I really donāt see us investing in anyone new thatās worth a d*&^ while paying the remaining contracts for two former coaches.
So, I think heās here one more year, but if next year sucks, (for which chances appear to be rising), we would be in better position to spend more $$$ on a higher profile coach.
So starters?
Henry
Lester
TWill
Clark
Thorne
:blank:
No. Thorne will sub for Clayton. If he does not then there is no big to sub in when they are both out there. Ingram will start. Ivan the terrible and Thorne will be the subs.
Does any one think moving to C-USA is the cause for this? That move clearly showed that Basketball will no longer be the marquee program here.
Probably around .500. We could probably get to around 18 or 19 wins, because weāll out talent a few teams in CUSA. But, I think our ceiling is very low.
We still have a decent line upā¦for now, just no depth. I can see us being around .500, and perhaps having a winning season, but without the depth, we probably wonāt be competing with USM and UTEP for the top. I just hope the off season fall apart stops with EVic.
I hope you boys like our 2013 NIT banner, it may be the last banner we hang for years to come.
Please list names of all players that we have lost with reason for each leaving since Major became coach. Thanks
Spears- booted cause he is a dumbass
Jones- failed out of school
KJ- Transfer
Mayfield- booted cause he is a dumbass
Clark- sandy vag syndrome casualty
EVic- ?
What really sucks about this is if they had been able to hold the entire team together they would have had a real shot to win Cusa next year. Now we are going to struggle and will likely have to bring in lower level players to bridge the gap.
I am really shocked about E Vic. He just carried himself like a real man and a team player. Of course I donāt know him but he just gave off the aura of a quality guy.
There is always the chance that all of this is due to problems with the players not the coaches, but this really seems to be to much of a pattern. Can you really have that many bad apples in a bunch? Seems unlikely.
As far as major, he obviously has some issues with communication. We know that. But I am not sure if they are going to pull the trigger on him now. They may not have the cash for another buyout. We may have to live with it for another year.
When he does get replaced we need to roll the dice on a young hotshot coach at a small program who has upward mobility. Even if they only stay a few years they can get our program moving in the right direction.
I hate to be the school that gets coaches that big job after a few years good work but I am more than willing to do that if we can right the ship and get us back on track.
Spears (disgruntled)
Voncina (pro contract)
Sirin (pro contract)
Briscoe (disgruntled or told to leave)
Clark (disgruntled)
EVN (disgruntled?)
Mayfield (dismissed)
Iām sure Iām missing a couple.
And for those saying we will still have a decent lineup this may not be over. What are we going to do if Clayton and Henry transfer? They would have schools falling all over each other to bring them in.
KJ Sherrill left when Briscoe left, due to the same reasons I think.

Luka - Play at home (after sitting out an entire year)
Gokan - Play at home
Deuce - Told he wouldnāt be playing as much
Who cares? Weāre a football school now.
Actually, Football does take away the sting a bit here. If Basketball was still the sole high profile sport we hadā¦this would be devastation of titanic proportions.
But, with all of the positive momentum with Footballā¦it doesnāt seem as dire.
Or maybe Iām just that apathetic about basketball here now after the last 6-7 yrs.
I appreciate your positive perspective, but some of us here are die hard basketball fans. I simply cannot brush things like this aside because we finally have a football program. Believe me, I am ridiculously excited about our football program, but at some point we will all start judging football by it programās performance as well.
ALL IS WELL!!!
Can someone just lock the entire basketball forum until, say October? Thereās nothing but bad news coming in here, and I think Iād rather just wait and hear just how low this program has sunk at one time instead of this gradual free fall we seem to be in. No way Major is still our coach come March 2014. And by that time I might just find that for the first time in about a decade I donāt give a lick about Charlotte basketball anymore.
This is now an epidemic. And one that doesnāt make sense - Evic was guaranteed PT, was coming along, and does not at all fit the convenient hothead/problem child profile.
The staff needs to answer for this. There is a problem on that staff somewhere and it needs to be dealt with.
If we enter CUSA with this kind of train wreck going on, it is going to doom the program for a decade. No bullshit here. We cannot take this kind of horrific clusterfuck momentum into a new league. Kiss of death.
I am so pissed off right now. This is ridiculous.
Agreed. I have been willing to give Major a lot of time but this is getting out of hand.
You guys crack me up. Everytime something happens like this, everyone gets on here and cries and blames major and his staff, then 2 days later they realize that it was the players fault (like darion). This has NOTHING to do with the staff. E Vic was a great recruit that has done absolutely nothing here, and now Shawn Lester was going to come in and take his spot(that already had little playing time because of t-will). There is nothing wrong with this, and the program shouldnāt be to blame. Vic hasnāt competed like he should have, and now he will have a second chance on another team. Stop blaming our coach.
If we had more than zero recruits coming in people might be more apt to accept that. Or if we havenāt had a ton of player turnover, or if we had won a few games in the A10 tourny (not including a team with a historical mental breakdown), or if we had not fallen apart at the end of the season, or if he could communicate worth 2 shits, or ⦠hell I give up.
Letās abolish April fools jokes about players transferring on the board while we are at it. Iād say it was a little prophetic.
