The Bucs beat up on Mars Hill 119-83 in their exhibition, Mars Hill shot 47% from the field. No one taller than 6’8 on their roster, will be curious to see how Mike performs.
We were told on CUSA board a few weeks ago that they will be without their best post player, not sure if this is still the case or not.
Of course I hope we win all of our games, but I want to kick their tails after the last second crap that happened two years ago. Henry needs to play like he did the second half of the exh and we shouldn’t have a problem.
YouTube clips of their exhibition games. Very guard heavy. We should cause them issues with our height, but any team that scores that much likes to run so we’ll see what kind of conditioning Big Mike is in.
I’m looking for some serious payback. I’m also excited to see what Lester and Cherry can bring to the table. We need outside scoring from these two if we are hoping to improve on the momentum we had last year. I’m really getting stoked for basketball!!

He’ll make some, but he has an ugly shot.
He’s definitely a slasher type player that plays above the rim. He looks for opportunities to throw down missed shots, so that’s always a good thing. He should rebound well for a guard.
He’ll likely get to the foul line quite a bit with his style of play, so I hope he can knock down the FT shots.

Good info. I thought I remembered from his highlight reel in HS that his shot was decent-looking. Maybe I was thinking of someone else. Also, highlight reels can be deceiving.
So Cherry and Benny are the only outside threats? TWill looked better towards the end of last season, but I still get nervous when he starts chucking 3s. A lot of his shots do not come in rhythm and turn out to be bad misses compounded by bad positioning for the rebound underneath.

we need to go to clayton and thorne early and often. their biggest player is a 6’8" dude who averaged like 4 points and 4.6 rebounds in his last season. they have some good guards including this freshman merriweather who already looks like their best player but they sound like they are not a good defensive team and allow a lot of wide open three pointers. what scares me about them is their ability to possibly hit threes and our inability to stop dribble penetration.
Dribble penetration means less when you have a Mike Thorne. If he can stay out of foul trouble, just having him in the paint is a natural deterrent. We’ve been missing that since Jones.
i agree but i need to see thorne become more a the shot blocker that i thought he would be coming out of high school. it seemed to me that our guards were letting their guards dribble into the paint too easily in the exhibition.

Henry looked really good shooting the 3 ball in the exhibition. I would consider him as a real outside threat. TWill and Lester can make them so the competition just can’t leave them open looks.
