Ebuka Izundu - 2015 C - requested release from LOI

Did these players actually think Major was coming back after he went on sick leave for the second time in six months?

Perhaps they have been told not to talk about the situation but it would be interesting for David Scott or another reporter to interview the guys who want out just to find out if there is a common reason for leaving. We are left to guess and that usually means negative posts.

This - reset button has been pushed. One guaranteed year of suckage, probably more now.

Does Dewhurst have a year of eligibility left?

Chuck dewberry?

Not following your logic. You can switch jobs anytime you like.

My thinking is that it is better to suffer short term with people who want to be there than have a cancer in your locker.

I heard that our program wasn’t broken and that we had a talented roster. It must be true.

Mark Price has his work cut out for him. I see the biggest issue is that we have so many scholarships to offer next year with so little time. He has to go with some transfers and jucos or we could potentially have a 7 player class. Doubt he could fill it with that many true freshmen anyway.

Let’s hope for some transfers from other teams.
If we give away a woods, let’s get 2 woods back. Let’s see what a former NBA allstar can sell kids on.

Ouch. Knew I shouldn’t have gotten excited about this guy yet, but it was hard not to imagine what he could do for a rebuilding program. What happened to wanting to play with Ogbueze?

Wonder if we lose anyone else. The vultures must be circling Dorn right about now.

Sucks to lose him and I will shift my expectations for next season. Still completely worth it. Talent that we can get will not win on it’s own. We have to have a real coach. If this is the cost of making the change so be it. I am worried about the sheer numbers though. I know many of you say let them go, but I would have probably instituted the no transfer rule for one year.

We’re are all just speculating here right? It has been said that Major’s practices were light on effort, and on his press conference day Price said that our team had a lot of hard work ahead of them to win games. I wonder how many of these guys said F that? I do not know how much talent we are going to have next year, but I bet any scrub that gets on the floor works harder–and probably is more effective–on defense than this year’s team was. I just hope we have enough offense left to get the job done.

I am on record here supporting the idea of not releasing players the first year of Major’s tenure, but he ended up with a bunch of malcontents at least partially because of it. I guess we are seeing the flip side of the coin now. I do not know if this will work out any better, but a change had to be made.

i just dont see woods, the guy who stayed after a game to put up shots despite being sick, or izundu, who i have read has a strong work ethic, as not wanting to put in effort. i think thorne just wanted to win right now with his last year. no idea about clayton.

Sucks to lose him, but I would’ve been more shocked had he kept his commitment. Changing a culture takes time though, and at the end of the day, it will give Price more scholarships to get his guys in here. As long as Dorn is still here, we only have good things ahead.

Southern Miss 2.0 in 2015

Id disagree here. At this point the wheels are falling off at least as far as next year is concerned. No way he even has time to fill that many roster spots. Most of the best recruits are gone and we haven’t heard a spec of us targeting anyone. Maybe down the road we will get to rebuilding but this loss is a gut shot.

Now we’re back to another 5 years of wait and see if the staff pans out. :-[

But hey, at least the program isn’t broken…
