Ebuka Izundu - 2015 C - requested release from LOI

Stat line from Monday’s win over Kennedy Charter: 10 pts, 23 rebs, and 9 blocks.
Said it before and I’ll say it again. I want to win now as badly as anyone but we were in a deep, deep hole. Just were. I hope we get on a role now and run off 8 or so.

Everybody wanted a tougher OOC schedule (so did I), well, this is what you get whether you like it or not. Tough to win road games against decent (not great) teams.

Giving up after 12 games with losses away from home against GT, Georgetown, GW, Davidson (who hung with UVA for 36 minutes), Mia in a Tourney and Mia at home isn’t for me. Hell, I wish we were 9-3 too but we’re not.
I know this is a late reply, but the problem is not our OOC schedule, it’s the coach. We went 8 and 8 vs a decent schedule and then collapsed in conference play. We didn’t lose to multiple sub 200 rpi teams in nonconference. Alan Major has always been a horrible in conference coach, which is why I want someone like Stephen F Austin or NCCU’s coach.

Getting back on topic, followed up Monday’s performance with last night’s win against Carmel Christian: 18 pts, 17 rebs and 5 blocks.

Anyone know his ft%? Seriously, a big guy that’s gonna get fouled a lot down low and can make FT is a luxury
Anyone know his ft%? Seriously, a big guy that’s gonna get fouled a lot down low and can make FT is a luxury
I think he shot like 80 or 85% last season.

83 percent last season.

Maxwell made a career getting fouled and hitting FTs, often and 1s. Except when it most counted: Final Four semi. Missed the front end of a 1 and 1 near the end. Anywho…Max was money, on the line.

Maxwell was not as good of a free throw shooter before he started taking his “practice shot”. I wish some of our current players tried something like that. ANYTHING! You never know what may work.

Last game the other teams players whirled the ball around his back twice before shooting. I think he made it too

May not make a difference, and some successful FT shooters don’t do it, but I wish Willie would bounce the ball a few times before he shoots FTs. He just NEVER seems ready to shoot/hit FTs before he actually puts it up. DRIVES ME CRAZY!!! >:D

Withers used to do the same thing, with similar results.

Let’s get back on topic here, this is for Izundu.

Withers was a WAYYYY better FT shooter than Willie though.

OK. I hope he can shoot FTs when he comes here. He’ll average double digit points his entire career, if he does. Bank on that.

Thank YOU, sweet Jesus!

ODU fan here. Some probably recognize me from the CSN boards. This looks like an awesome get. Major seems to do well on the recruiting trails.

How divided is the fan base on his future?

I dont think most people question the talent he is able to recruit. It is his actual coaching ability we question.

the way we look at it is that we, at least on paper, have a lot of talent and are completly underutilizing it.
