ECU/SJ filibuster

I give you props for showing up on the board.

But…don’t fall too much in love with the 3 point shooting logic. 2 things:

 1. Under AM we’ve consistently had very good 3 pt defense. So I don’t think it’s simply a case of missing the shots.

 2. As bad as you think your 27% looks, we shot 11%. I too don’t see us shooting that poorly for the rest of the season. We also only shot 67% from the FT line. I don’t see that number being that low by season end either.
Congrats. You guys beat our ass last night and it was a pretty pathetic performance on the glass and downlow. I thought you gave us plenty of good outside looks , they just haven’t gone in the entire year and that’s starting to get concerning. We are a shooting team and if we aren’t shooting well we aren’t going to beat a lot of good teams especially that play the style you guys do, that’s pretty clear. I thought our gameplan on D really sucked last night too, didn’t even try a zone. We’d have been better of putting everyone in the paint and making you beat us from outside.

It’s still a long season and I would have said that win or lose. I’m not writing our team off yet. If we had hit a couple more FT’s like we normally do only hit about 32% of our 3’s, which is a pretty sorry percentage at that, and well below what these guys shot last year, we’d have been right there in it at the end despite the pathetic performance in the post. I just don’t see how we shoot 27% on the year for the entire year from 3.
In complete and total honesty, you guys will be just fine in C-USA. That’s the best ECU squad I’ve seen in a very long time. PRC is a special player. Those shots will fall eventually.

Twill is already a better player than either one of them, though.

Agree 100%

Twill is the kind of guy that, if allowed to set up his shot, would hurt you. He struggles with making shots on the wing because they are guarding him. There’s not many coaches who see a guy with his form and touch just inside the line that would see sagging off of him as a good idea.

Mayfield has proven he can hit the three, he is just struggling to start the season (much like he did last year).

As far as Benkovic, I will agree that he got caught in a late rotation. But he also forced two turnovers that game and one was an on the ball steal. I can live with one slow rotation if he’s going to answer that with two forced turnovers. Oh and he tipped the ball a third time that stopped a fast break.

Um…

I will agree that it is the best EZU squad I’ve seen in a while. I will not agree that they will be fine in CUSA. They are going to struggle to be a .500 team this year again.

Yeah, sorry- didn’t see it up there. In a rush.

They’ll also beat teams that are better than they are when the shots fall.

Forgot to ask - why did EZU get 3 FTs on that one posession in the 2nd half - not the 4 pt play - there was a foul down low (think it was on Bras - or else Clayton) and they got to shoot 3 FTs, and I never saw a lane violation or any other clear explanation.

Those watching/listening at home - do you know what I am talking about?

Lane Violation on JTT.

I couldn’t care less about your assessment of the game. Your team is garbage and you’re a moron for thinking otherwise.

Understand you can stick around and post your crap as much as you want. Just know I can feel your pain behind every word your type and it is a warm blanket around me that gives me such happiness.
A little note regarding ECU fans, or lack there of I should say.

that was a disappointing turnout from a instate, large school, “peer institution” that likes to talk about how they are part of the Charlotte market on message boards from a conference affiliation standpoint.

I know they are a football first school, but that was pathetic. There weren’t 300 ECU fans there, and absolutely no organization of the few who came to really sit together or cheer.
I’m ok with opposing fans coming to our place, BUT (listen up, ticket office, John George): QUIT PUTTING OPPOSING FANS IN MY SECTION 221. PUT THEM UP IN THE END ZONE WHERE WE PUT MOST OF opposing fans OR BEHIND THEIR BENCH. Dammit, I’m a longtime 49er Club member and season ticket holder and original FSL buyer. I do NOT want opposing fans sitting around/near me at Halton. I had them just behind me and just in front of me to the right and scattered in 221. >:( Thanks.

It is entirely possible that they bought those tickets from a season ticket holder.

Damn them!

Or they just bought available tickets at the window like we have done for davidson.

Yeah, as long as they ain’t in the student section, that always grinds my gears.

I second this, when the classless EZU fans started with profanity around my kid last night was where I drew the line and I had to hold back because of the same reason. I am all for cheering for your home team but that was uncalled for. Please stick the low life EZU in the rafter as where we did the Wildcrap fans last year the next time. Just like yourself, 49er1; I do not want to “mingle” with low rent from the armpit of NC. The only thing I could think of is the EZU bunch from last night at section 221 must be personal friends of CHP to deserve such special treatment. ;D

In all honesty, you’re an ass clown. And you got what you had coming. Sucks to be you.
