ECU vs Charlotte

Shamarr Bowden, wasn’t he supposed to be NBA by now?

YOU do know, Shamarr tried to come back to Charlotte earlier this year but was turned down, right?

This…sorry I didnt see this before I posted above.

good luck keeping this kid in class and motivated. He’s got some serious primadonna issues. He feels entitled and hasn’t earned anything at this time. He can shoot and that’s about it. Maybe your staff can find the magic button to touch, but with all the schools he’s’ been involved with, there has to be some issues with Bowden.

If you read some of the post by your fans you would have thought so, now he’s pure crap :)) If he is good enough for a former NBA coach Tim Floyd at our conf champ well take him…
StillJonesing, Lebo’s rep is that he could get talent, even SEC level talent, but he just can’t coach.

Congrats, that’s what your last coach did. When has ECU been good in basketball?
Whatever, he couldnt’ recruit a bigman and never had a decent big man over 6-7 at Auburn and played with some of the smallest teams in the nation and was still compeditive. The Auburn team that won 24 games had three 6-1 starters and started 210 pound 6-6 and 6-7 guys in the post. You don’t get 24 wins out of a team in the SEC that small and not being a good coach. That will work better at our level than there if he ends up not being able to recruit a big. Either way he won at both of his other lower level stops. There’s enough positives on the resume that I’m more comfortable with him than some assistants.

Actually he was a soph and had spent an entire season on the bench learning because he had injured his knee his first season at Charlotte. So you can drop the freshman thing as an excuse. Fact is he has tons of talent - but he has a bad attitude and puts himself above the team. He played no D and had poor shot selection even after being on the team for a full year so he got benched and beat out for #2 minutes and starting position by a transfer. Then he sat on the bench and sulked and complained until he finally quit the team instead of focusing on getting better. Good luck with Shamarr - you will need it.
Good job ignoring this post jonesing…

Why is this still being discussed?

I’m not ignoring it, I just thought it was pretty shortsighted and didn’t deserve and answer. You don’t learn much with a screwed up knee on the bench. You learn it on the court at game speed, that’s why it’s called experience. How many redshirt football players do you see on the field compared to upperclassmen?

Good question. I’m guessing just because StillJonesing is a flamer. Its funny watching him make stupid posts.

“hey guys! we’ve got a chapel hill reject as coach and just got a Charlotte reject as a player, we are assembling something special at ECU–arent you jealous! woooooo”.

So funny.

Notice that he was pretty confident about landing T Williams over Charlotte, then didn’t show his face around here when we got the commitment, now says that they probably backed off of him and are glad they got Bowden instead. Jeeze, kid must be 13 or something.

Good luck with Bowden. The guy can shoot. Unfortunately, he is not athletic, can’t (and won’t) play D, can’t put the ball on the floor, makes bad decisions, etc. He is a one trick pony which is why Green stole what he thought was his starring role last year. He will have the occasional big game though, and might push your annual wins at ECU from 10 to 12.

You kept calling him a freshman - when in fact he wasn’t. He played and practiced with the team for almost a year - busted knee didn’t sit him for 12 months. He had plenty of time to mature but he didn’t.

I just thought that I’d point out that ECU played it’s most important conferce game of the year today at 3:30 (they lost) and while that is going on, stilljonesing was here arguing about ECU’s lame ass basketball program. I think that tells you all that you need to know.

I have to agree with Jones. I think with a year to mature at a Juco, Shamarr would have been ready to learn D & attitude adjustment under Major. He was a good 3 shooter, & I was hoping he’d come back. I hate for someone to leave us, but y’all do sound like sour grapes. Let’s face it, everyone knows Shamarr BELONGS at Charlotte.

He could be a great player for you guys…or completely terrible. I’ve never seen a player with such a high ceiling and a low floor. Shamarr’s problem was that there wasn’t a shot be didn’t like. If he was in the game, he was going to shoot it almost every time he touched it regardless of how well he was defended or how far behind the line he was. He has mediocre ball handling skills, but didn’t realize it. He often turned the ball over as a result. He also made lazy and poor passes resulting in a lot of turnovers.

If you can put Shamarr is a position where all he has to do is shoot an open shot, he’ll score double figures for you. If you ask him to do anything else, you’re going to be very disappointed.

Yep, it was nice to get my mind off the game for the 10 minutes I spent over here. It’s was pretty stressful and frustrating. So what do you do on Saturdays other than follow ECU football?

Thank you for continuing to prove my point when any rational person would have already stopped.
