ECU vs Charlotte

How about we go back to the orginial topic. Terrrance Williams would be nice start in change. Just the simple fact Lebo’s already competing for a CLT kid with your coach kind of says a lot about things currently and change already happening. This on top of him already getting a CLT commit ESPN thinks is more talented than Williams and a top NC recruit. Your coach asleep at the wheel?

None of it matters. ECU is where basketball goes to die. Our coaches dont even matter. ECU is where basketball goes to die. Case in point: you think your coach is better, but you still are going to get beat at home by us this year, by, in your eyes an inferior coach. If you dont believe me, I’ll take a bet straight up. I havent got a clue what ECU’s got coming back or in as far as recruits this year, but it doesn’t matter. All that matters is that ECU is where basketball goes to die. Get it?

clt will now destroy this guy:

“With a deadline today for would-be ticket buyers to secure their future seats, money had been received Thursday for 1,304 seats, according to a school spokesman, far below the pledged total of more than 5,400 seats.” …CLT Observer.

You couldn’t get 1500 people to pony up a measley $500 bucks. Obviously you guys are headed for the big time with that kind of excitement… Spin all you want you are a LONG way from D1a.

-clt says $500 will get you sitting in the parking lot @ lowe’s field holding a keystone light and a cold chicken wing from food lion. tickets are $1k per for the fsl and then you need to contribute to the 49er club. then you get to buy tickets. all of this for a team that is starting up and we have sold over 3500.

I don’t really care who it is supporting ECU as long as they come out and pay $40-50 bucks a ticket and have a good time. See unlike your “fans” they actually give $$$. You would love to have 17,000 in your 49er club members giving $6 million + in donations a year and $6 million+ in football ticket revenue. You guys aren’t even in the galaxy with what our fans give. Whats it say that in a city of as large as yours with a school as large as yours you can barely get a 1000 fans to put their money where their mouth is all $500 bucks of it. Pathetic… I’ll take our poor shoeless rednecks anyday of the week know some that drive from CLT every home game.

-clt cannot comprehend your ramblings, especially the last " sentence". please enroll in your local community college and follow back up with us in 3-5 months.

Virginia Tech is located in a metropolis and has been on ESPN more than anyone and were the Big East TV cash cow, oh yeah, and the big east kicked Temple and there little philly market out you know. Obviously there is a lot of other factors that matter in TV deals like actual market share and people actually giving a crap about you in your market. It’s beside the point though now CUSA and the MWC are working an alliance deal to get BCS status right now.

clt is very concerned about you. clearly you lack basic life skills. a metropolis is a “large dense urban area”. blacksburg and greenvile do not not meet said definition. charlotte does. clt is not sure where you were going with that one. clt asks did you see what he did right there? that is the proper usage. clt says that ezu clearly allows anyone with a pulse, a clean std record (just kidding) and a student loan to experience the college life, without actually learning.

Sad thing is your real arena for your big time basketball program only holds 1000 more in capacity. Ouch. The low ceiling is an advantage and makes it loud as hell.

-clt asks when was the last time you sold out minges? those seats have more dust on them than bea arthur’s …

Should be easy as hell to get 50,000 drunk rednecks to go to a football game in the Greenville-Washington, NC metropolis. What else is there to do there on a Saturday, screw a cousin? They have 2 working TVs and 1 working car per trailer park so who wouldn't get drunk and walk down the street to the game?

Please Jonesing! Please! Please! Please! Tell us all about the massive state-wide TV market ECU football has, just like you tell the Big East fans!

seriously…you are clueless. We’ve sold 3500 FLS at $1000 to $2500 EACH JUST FOR THE RIGHT to buy tickets later and we’re 3 years away from playing. If we were selling JUST SEASON TICKETS at $200-300 each like EZU does we’d have easily sold 10-12,000 by now.

Ok, time to come clean StillJonesing. You’re not this stupid. It’s just an act, right?

This level of willful ignorance cannot be real…

I can see Mike P pulling a stunt like this, especially since he told us we would never sell enough FSLs. But it could also be someone on the Dean’s list at ECU too.

No, he’s a regular on ECU boards and NCAABBS.

The problem isn’t recruiting for ECU. Your past coaches have recruited pretty decent classes there. The problem is keeping these guys in Greenville, NC. Every time ECU has had a decent player, he transfers elsewhere. It’s a given.

Is it the fan support? Maybe the university’s location?

This guy is clearly trolling. I’d agree with S9er above, it’s not really fun to put down other programs when our recent teams have been mediocre. But it’s pretty ridiculous to come on another team’s board and keep up the smack when your program has been as awful as ECU’s has. To put it in perspective, every single team currently in the A10 has had more success than ECU’s basketball program. I would think that’d be humbling enough that we’d never see an ECU fan talking smack, at least until they accomplish, well, anything.

On a lot of other message boards, this dude woulda been banned. NNN ftw.

this ezu fan is doing the equivalent of one of us going on the duke board. and making about 30 posts telling them they suck at basketball.

Players like to play early, but you can’t win with underclassmen and a few JUCO’s. Almost all that left have gotten frustrated after a couple of losing season or coaching change and it’s been a cycle. He hit the nail on the head. The last 10 years we have only had 7 players stay all 4 years here, and some of the ones that left went to places like Pitt, Tennessee, Wichita St etc.

Finally broke the cycle this year. We actually managed to kept a 5 player Senior class together all 4 years (1 medical redshirt JR), even through 3 different coaches. No one else left either and we return everyone from last year. We got experience for once if nothing else.

We have to have the most experienced team in the nation returning and I think our coach will outcoach yours at home at this point in his career. Might consider that bet. I think you guys made the biggest mistake not getting a coach with more recruiting ties to this region.

No, we’re good without Tarhole or any Ah She She rejects, thanks.

I don’t care myself as long as he wins. His wife’ family are from here and went to ECU so he has some ties here and might actually stick around a little longer even if successful. I liked that Lebo worked his way up from the bottom myself. He’s fixed crap programs before. One thing your coach has going for him IMO is he does look like he’s worked his way up from the bottom on talent as well. Would much rather have someone like that than some Duke assistant that graduates and get his first job on the Duke bench. Doubt those guys have a clue the challenges either of our schools face.

We could play twice this year BTW.

One thing I am really proud of our Athletics Department for is the fact that we don’t allow ourselves to be a farm league for Chapel Hill or State former players who want to coach.

We aren’t farming anything with this hire. To be a farm team, we’d have had to give Lebo his first head job ever and on the job training, not the 4th school to hire him as head coach. Knock UNC but Dean’s coaching tree is pretty impressive, lot more success than failure from the UNC guys. I’m sure he got some breaks being a UNC guy but I look more at the fact he started as an assistant at E. Tenn St and worked his way up to an SEC head job. Got to have some talent to do that.

I think its plain good policy to not hire “associates” of programs that refuse to play you.

I think the carolina ties and those to Dean and Roy can only help at this point. Probably impressive he played for those guys to some recruits. We’ve even had some UNC guys donate and buy season tickets. If they want to give money and support the program it’s just an added bonus IMO. UNC has a history of playing at place of alum coaches in the tree and Lebo had UNC coming to Auburn this year. He’s said he will try to get them in Minges and if they went to App for Buzz they probably will end up here at some point.
