Christy Galvin (1997-2000) was found dead in her apartment today. Looking for a silver nissan in connection with the death. Prayers with her family, including her sister, who was an incoming player this year.
That’s absolutely HORRIBLE news. Prayers for her family.
I saw the story on the news tonight. Terrible news.
If you want to help the police, be on the lookout for a Silver Nissan 350z with the license plate:

He had the opportunity to get a good head start.

Charlotte, N.C. – We have new developments from overnight in the murder of the UNC Charlotte athlete.
Police arrested her boyfriend at the Canadian border.
Police tell us customs officials stopped Seyi Odueso late last night.
He’s being held in new York until he’s extradited to Charlotte.
26-year-old Christy Galvin was found dead in her apartment Tuesday at the Ivy Meadows Complex.
Galvin was a UNC Charlotte graduate… Who was still active with the women’s volleyball team.
Students at UNC Charlotte said Monday night they were shocked over Christy’s death.
Eric Giles used to work at a nearby grocery store and knew Galvin and Odueso.
“They would come in all the time,” said Giles. “I used to talk to him all the time about being from Oregon.”
Galvin spent four years as an outside hitter for the Charlotte 49’ers women’s volleyball team.
Kimberly Couick is a junior who didnt know Galvin but says the news will affect the entire campus.
“I think everybody’s going to be in shock,” said Couick. “This will definitely make a big impact on the school especially with her being as well known as she was.”
Police are not saying how Galvin died, but say it was violent.

Police in New York have taken the boyfriend of a woman found dead in her apartment Tuesday morning into custody. He was stopped by customs agents at the Canadian border late Tuesday night.
Police said Seyi Tayo Odueso, 27, was trying to cross the border into Canada around 11 p.m. Customs officers detained him in Alexandria Bay, New York. They said Odueso was driving the silver 2003 Nissan 350z police had been looking for.
Odueso is now charged with murdering his live-in girlfriend Christy Galvin, 26. Police said she died violently in her apartment over the weekend.
A co-worker called authorities after the victim didn’t answer her phone. Galvin worked for the apartment complex and co-workers became suspicious when she did not report in.
Firefighters were the first to arrive on the scene at her apartment on Ivy Meadow Drive in the University area. They quickly turned it over to police after making the gruesome discovery.
It was an emotional scene at the apartment complex where Galvin’s body was found. Odueso’s mother was overcome with grief.
“We don’t know what’s true at this point,” said a friend of the victim, Mike Bell. “Kind of upsetting - very upsetting.”
“He called me on Monday, kind of in a distressed mood - a little upset and I tried to comfort him and talk to Christy,” Bell said. “And she was no where around at that point. That was last Monday. That’s the last we heard up until now.”
"We certainly were trying to locate anybody who would have seen Christy this past weekend. Including anybody she might have lived with or been associated with over the weekend,” said Officer Brad Koch with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Galvin played volleyball at UNCC Charlotte. Her coach remembered her as a hard worker, quiet, but full of surprises.
“She always had a prank. That was one of many fond memories of her. She would pull a prank and you wouldn’t think it was her because she was so quiet. But then you’d see a sly little smile from her and you’d know she had gotten you,” UNCC volleyball coach Lisa Marston said.
Odueso will be returned to Charlotte to face charges.
Friends went to check on 26-year-old Christy Ann Galvin on Tuesday morning after they couldn’t reach her. Galvin, who worked as a leasing agent at Ivy Meadow Drive apartments where she lived, was dead.
Police would not say when she was last seen.
Galvin’s car – a silver 2003 Nissan 300Z – was missing from the complex off Old Concord Road and her roommate was not home, police said.
Capt. Sean Mulhall said it didn’t look like anyone had forced their way into the apartment; it wasn’t clear whether anything had been taken.
The crime didn’t appear random, he said.
Tuesday afternoon, detectives announced that they were looking for Galvin’s roommate, 27-year-old Seyi Tayo Odueso.
They asked anyone who’d seen Galvin’s car or Odueso to call 911. He is not charged with a crime, police said, but may have information.
This is unbelievable!!! So tragic. Thoughts and prayers to the family and to everyone who knew her.
clt had a few classes with her. nice girl. clt sends thoughts and prayers to her family and friends.
on a much lighter note:
glad to see the ol uncc charlotte. we should just give up.

The suspect looks guilty as hell now. Sounds like an open-and-shut case.

its the fact that they were stupid enough to not even get the type of car right they showed the car and everything. I wasn’t laughing about the death because this is BS because she was a great person i was laughin because they got the style of car wrong when its a car that everyone should know what it is
She called 911 24 hours before her death, but he took the phone & said a kid played w/ it. What BS! Always, always, always send a cop to verify. That 911 operator should be fired, & her family should sue the Meck 911 service for millions.
I’m glad they caught the SOB trying to sneak into Canada.
They broke up. I guess he was a pyscho that didn’t want anyone else to have her.
They’re trying to talk her sister into still coming to Charlotte after what happened.
I know this is a mess. This burns my soul. There is no justice for this - and there was no need for it. My prayers go to those involved with her life.
I swear guys - lets raise our kids right - and battle the messed up problems in this world. What a coward this guy is. I hope he learns to hold himself accountable.

It is unrealistic to believe they can send out officiers to every call that is a hang up. When they called back there were no indications of trouble when he answered. It sounds like a cold and calculated situation.
A 911 operator is a tough position without all the bogus calls they field daily. I am sure this operator will have to deal with this on a personal level. Firing or sueing everyone involved will not change this tradegy.
