Final record predictions

How’s everyone feeling about the rest of the season? 6-6 with 17 to play.

16-13, and being optimistic.

19-10 completely optomistic

more like 17-12

You guys are quick for New years day morning. Poll is up now.

I wasn’t real impressed with our play against Wofford nor with the officiating. I was surprised the Wofford coach didn’t get a technical sooner. What really bothered me is that Matt Sweirad said in his post-game comments that those were A-10 refs! God help us all!

Anyway, once league play gets started on Thursday, I don’t think we’ll see much of Carlos Williams. He just isn’t very good.

As far as our final record, I’m thinking .500 in league play, so we should end up 14-16, 15-15, or 16-14.

I heard Sweirad say that about the refs…being A-10 refs. Bobby said he told his Assistants not to say a word to them. He said you never know what to expect. Play physical and adjust is what he tells the players. Lutz closed by saying A-10 refs just aren’t very good.

Run, surprised your that down on Carlos, especially after having a good game. I think he’ll help us.

Bobby called out the A-10 officials in the post game show comparing them to the old CUSA officials saying “they just aren’t very good.”

I was very surprised at that statement coming from Lutz.

For those that think we will only lose 5 games the rest of the year - I want some of what you are drinking

we started off the same last year…and then caught fire in conference play…what makes you think thats impossible?

Curtis Withers living in Turkey?

The Atlantic 10 has not made the financial commitment to getting the best officiating in any of its sports. Unfortunately someone has to be at or near the middle to bottom, and it’s the A-10 across the board.

(It’s a catch-22 for them as well, because if they chose to pay more, they could find themselves just paying more for the same old crap if Big East, ACC, SEC officials don’t want to moonlight or cross over, or in some cases make the longer trips.)

I think this team is still searching for a starting lineup and rotation. I have been to every home game and Davidson and I have not seen a game yet where we looked comfortable for a full 40 minutes. I think we will be inconsistent all year. We still have not beaten anyone and one more injury and we could have a really bad conference record.

i worry about another injury too. we are already pretty thin personnel wise. i think the term inconsistent is an understatement.

I didn’t want to vote but I wanted to see the results so I voted for the one I knew no one would pick so that I wouldn’t effect the results. I am the lone vote for 16-1 the rest of the way. Tho, on a bright note, I have seen several good omens for this year so who knows what the 2007 portion of the season could hold for us.

I hope you are correct in your predictions.

I agree with you but watching a lot of other A-10 teams play I honestly think we can finish in top 4 in the conference this year. Many teams including La Salle, Richmond, and URI started off strong but have faded quickly. And if UMASS doesn’t beat Miami (FL), I have serious doubts about them, after seeing what Kentucky did to them.

I was high on Dayton, well until I seen how their inside game is crappy and how Roberts/Scott must carry them. They are a lot like us except for the fact that they decide to play defense most of their games.

Xavier and SLU are definately the best teams in the conference, Xavier struggled midway but has rebounded lately and SLU has been pretty consistent all year and have beaten the teams they should beat.

I know we’ve not done much of anything ourselves, but the fact that the A-10 doesn’t have too many dominate big men (Ian V., Freeman (and maybe Lasme), and Dunston are the main ones who stick out), I think EJ can continue to assert himself with double doubles and CDub could surprise some people. We all know Leemire is due to catch fire any minute and De’angelo is being smarter with the ball.

If we play like we did in the 2nd half of the wofford game, we will surprise a lot of people and have a chance to have a good conference record at the end of the year, but if we jack up 3’s and don’t play D which for the most part is what this team has done in the first part of the season, then there’s no doubt this team could finish in the bottom half of the league.

I hope you are correct in your predictions.
I wouldn't really think of them as predictions. Predictions makes it sound like I think it is what will happen. I'm just saying that I've seen good things for the year to come.

guys we lost to Davidson by 30, there seems to be some unbridled enthusiasm here. Thank goodness they have won 3 in a row, but 6-6 is a good indicator of the rest of the year. We’ll beat the bad teams, lose to the good A10 teams (assuming they exist).

I say 15-14. I haven’t seen this team play yet, but look forward to it with my new season tix, but from TV it looks like we don’t have the raw athletes to compete with legit teams.

Unquestionably the last 3 games were pivotal and have saved what could of been an embarrassing year. If we were 3-9 or 4-8, there is no rebounding from that, IMO.

I can’t believe 80% of this board thinks we will be 10-7 or BETTER.

Lefty, from my vantage point, Carlos was the beneficiary of some of the crappy officiating during the Wofford game. There were at least two obvious traveling violations that weren’t called against him. I do hope I’m proven wrong, but thus far I just haven’t been impressed with his play at all.
