Finally the Appholes can shutup!

Looks like we are actively trying to schedule a game, and that our AD had reached out to ASU’s as early as fall of 2010…

So basically we tried to schedule a series when we first started out. They didn’t want to play, because if we beat them, they had everything to lose. Then we get into C-USA. We didn’t want to play because we had everything to lose, yet we are the scared ones. This is hilarious. App nation can enjoy their crow, which they’ll never admit to being wrong anyway. I can’t wait to yell something about this at the basketball game this winter.

2018 would be the perfect time to start this series. We will have developed a quality junior and senior class, and will have hopefully adjusted to the level of competition in C-USA.

2018 and 2019. Then 2 years off. Then 2022 and 2023.

Do you know this, or is this speculation? Why take time off? I’d love to play every year.

This is speculation. Most non-conference series with more than 2 games have breaks in between. There’s no one I’d want to play every year outside of conference. There’ simply no South Carolina to our Clemson; no Georgia to our Georgia Tech.

And if we take breaks in between series with regional opponents there never will be.

Don’t worry, App fans will never shut up about this. As far as they’ll ever be concerned until the game is actually played, Judy is too scared. ::slight_smile:

If we have to schedule 9 conference games a year, we really won’t have a ton of openings. I would also think we would try to schedule games against one FCS team and one BCS team a year. It may not be practical to play APP every year.

I think beating App sounds like fun, but truthfully they get a ton from playing in Charlotte because they have more alums here than they do in Boone. For us though, all it means is a nice fall trip to the mountains where maybe we can get a room in the best hotel in town which comes with worn towels and carbon monoxide. Go for the 2 for 1 deal Judy.

Yep, and we should stay off of their board and just let it go. Once the games are scheduled, they can no longer question our desire to compete against them.

I also noticed this in Scott’s Gold Mine article:

ā€œCharlotte’s 2014 schedule is full and has one open date in 2015 (when the 49ers join C-USA). But that date is taken by a game that will probably be an FBS opponent (likely SEC).ā€

Is this the Tennessee game that has been hinted at?

Any deal with App State should be a 2 for 1 for us. They need us badly, and we don’t need them at all.

I’d be fine with not scheduling them at all and watching their program die a horrible death when their fans don’t get excited about an average record in a crappy conference.

We can see if Georgia Southern wants to reset our FCS series now that we’re both FBS. That would get’em hot hot hot in Boone.

Lambert mentioned an SEC game on that radio interview the other day as well. I think he said something about everyone ā€œknowing now that we are playing a team from the SEC (?) and the Big 12ā€ (Kansas State). I thought I heard it wrong the first time (thought he maybe said ACC? ie Va. Tech) so I listened to it again and he did in fact say SEC. So, I assume maybe this is the long-rumored Tennessee game. ???

Now, now gentlemen; we’re being too arrogant again.
