Would everyone agree that if progress is not made this year that Sanchez has been given enough time and a fair shot to turn the program around? Would anyone decry his removal after this year if we flame out in the tourney and have a roughly .500 record?
I think that is true. I donât see really anyone defending where we are. I see basically people that think we should have fired him last year, those who want him fired now and those that want to let the season play and if it isnât X then fire him. The only disagreement I see if definition of X, but I think everyone agrees around .500 and flaming out is not acceptable.
I was fine with letting him pick up this season and see if he could build on not last year but the previous year when it looked like things were headed the right way. I act like last year didnât happen, so that means this year should have seen the continuation from year 2 not just improvement from last year. We are not seeing that. I said top 4 league finish and winning a game or two in tourny needed to happen. I stand by that. If he accomplishes that itâs still an upward trajectory, even if I think its time to move on. I can see bringing him back and canât really be upset with that. However I wouldnât shed a tear if Mike decides that isnât good enough and moves on.
Saw that WKU is slightly favored tonight but expect the home team to win. In spite of the Hilltoppersâ AD recently giving his vote of confidence in Stansbury, gotta think the latterâs seat is heating up in year six in Bowling Green with only a couple of NITs during that time.
WKU is on a 5 game skid I believe. And 2-3 of those were to baaaad teams.
If we lose this oneâŚthen we are the âget wellâ team in the league. The team you hope to play when you are playing poorly so you can âget well.â
Losing tonight would and should seal Sanchezâ fate for good.
Iâm actually not 100% convinced Hill would pull the trigger even if we lose out. Not that we will be that lucky, we will probably be a few games over .500 and give him the optics to say progress if he wants. Thatâs why I started the thread about who is Mike Hill. If heâs a ruthless winner, which most champions are, no way he doesnât move on after this season, but I guess we will see.
