Price got praise because he had been a shooting coach at the NBA level and for me in his press conference, he set out a goal of NCAAs. Not the post season line Judy pushed. Of course he never came close to it. He may have been a decent coach but he was so far out of his element with recruiting, he never had enough talent besides JD.
I donāt know about finishing positions, but the culture of the program is way better. When Ron took over we had almost had a mutiny in the program with half the team ready to quit and transfer mid season.
I donāt think we are broke necessarily, but it doesnāt help that we have been paying coaching buyouts for basically the last 12 years.
Iām not denying any of that. But results matter and our results are not all that much different.
The Price and Mullins hires were about as risky as Healy and Poggi. I donāt have access to the full article, but hereās a snippet from the first sentence of Sorensenās article.
He got an analyst job at UCF. Probably not getting paid a lot.
Everything i remember reading was that Price was a great hire!
Most people thought he would be. Natural coach, and he might have been at the nba level where he didnāt have to recruit.
Memoriesā¦
A quick read says it wasnāt everyone at least.
I wonder if this thread holds the Guinness record for āLongest sports forum thread asking for a coach to be fired that is still the coachā?
I was speaking mainly about the media.
No worries either way, I just thought it was cool to be able to step into the way back machine.
Weād have to go iver 1 million, plus hope no p5 schools wsnt him yet
If Kelsey were to land in CLT, pretty sure heād bring the pack line with him. Became familiar with it while an assistant at Wake and has employed it as HC at both Winthrop and CofC.
But his offense isnāt as restrictive as Sanchezās
No, definitely is not.
I think it was a testament to Biff wanting to get a FBS job!..⦠we are fortunate he was available & willing to to make those sacrifices.
We have to begin planning for $1.5m+ year coaches salaries in bball and football.
I would sell the farm to get Kelsey. He can coach & has the energy & excitement to motivate the players. The locker room video from their UNCW game shows that excitement which has been missing on our sideline for years. And he obviously knows how to coach the packline successfully. He may not be interested but Hill should put him at the top of his list.
compared with our circumstances make you grow locker room video from Western Kentuckyā¦CoC wins that battle.
Ron is a good guy. I wish this thing would have worked out for him and the school. I just donāt think itās possible at this point
I still had hope for Sanchez up until about halfway thru last season. I thought there was still a chance that circumstances had kept him from reaching his potential. I really wanted him to be successful but after this long I think this is just who he is as a head coach. By all accounts he is a good man & a really good role model for the players, but he just doesnāt appear to be cut out for this job.
