The lowest paid coach in AAC I Believe is $900k at ECU.
If you can pay Kelsey $1 million or more, maybe we have a shot with the AAC profile. There is no way he would have left for CUSA. But the AAC is still a step up and more exposure.
Plus, and this would be the absolute coup, if we could also get his 2 high ranked signees to follow him here, that would be a great way to jump start the program:
There were a lot of people who wanted to get Kelsey during the last couple of coaching cycles.
We shoulda woulda coulda hired him earlier and weād be in a lot better shape. Had our shot, donāt think weāll get it now. Heās going to be a higher end P5/6 target, so I think we missed our chance.
yeah I wanted him when were were looking the two earlier times. unfortunately lost the first time to major. and the second time people here kept calling him a cuck and the fans wanted us to go after someone else and we ended up with mark price.
I still think he could be a good get but I doubt we could land him now. Iām more on the getting chris mack vibe
I think it has more to do with what NN said, we are broke, I donāt understand enough about athletic budgets to know why we are broke but itās a fact, we had hire a football coach that was already rich⦠itās a weird situation, I donāt think Kesley would take less than 1.25 mil a year and we donāt have thatā¦
What makes you think we are broke? Iām pretty sure we are not but my sources may not be as good as yours. We do have to get a high percentage of $$$ before we proceed with capital improvements but that is nothing new for us. I guarantee you we can come up with 1.25 M for a coach if it was deemed necessary.
I donāt think we are broke at all. I donāt think we are flush with cash either, but if we were strapped for operating capital we wouldnāt be fund raising for massive facilities improvement.
As for football I think Mike wanted to hire Biff. The fact that he isnt taking a full salary is a testament to Biff and his goals.
I could be wrong but I thought one of the big reasons we wanted to avoid firing a coach this season was due to the amount of money we still owe to the number of past coaches we fired and still have to pay. healy now being on the list. not to mention the whole fundraising thing. and the aac fees we have to pay to move up. if we fire sanchez now thats another coach we will still have to pay to do nothing while we have to find a new coach.
Ronās contract could be almost entirely offset by a P5 assistant job. That is assuming he gets back to coaching, but while I might not like Ronās style - he is well respected in coaching circles, loves coaching the kids and with Bennettās coaching tree and philosophy I have no doubt he would be on a bench very quickly. His resume is very different from WIllās.
Not sure if most praised the Price hire. I remember thinking, oh no, the Clyde Drexler experiment did not go well in Houston. But I do agree in the sense that Mullins was more of a risk than Price was.
How many teams are in the market for an assistant coach that is dogmatically committed to the Pack Line and running out the shot clock each possession? UVA might take him back then who?
Are we really in that much different shape? Under Price we finished 7th and 10th in conference (average of 8.5 place). With Sanchez weāve finished (including currently this season) on average in 9th place.
