Posted that Zagoria piece on Slick Rick back in October so nothing new there.
At this point if we can dig up Woodenās decomposing corpse Iām good with it if he can win.
Lutz is only 64 and owned Pitino, Calipari, Huggins and others.
Yes. Iām serious. But I also wanted to enjoy all the comments these statements stir up regarding Lutz.
I might propose a corollary to the theory that a good coach can sometimes take time to establish a program. Itās also very possible that one year of winning does not insure success over time. Iāll be interested to see if Dusty May will sustain winning at FAU when his current players are gone. Of course, he may be gone from there himself before that happens, if heās smart.
Is that why schools who are losing to those guys are eager to hire Lutz?
If we hire an old coach it had better be one that has seen the second weekend of the tournament.
Oh pleaseā¦we would all love to get at large bids and opening round wins again.
Sanchez will be a head coach after he is fired this year and will never lose another game. Right?
Sure we would. Iām just saying if we go with an old coach Iād like one that has a second weekend on his resume so that when he recruits he can tell a kid I might be older than your dad but Iāve seen a S16 or elite 8 or better. Come with me and you will see that too.
I would prefer one with multiple at large bids instead of one ālighting in a bottleā Davidson/McKillop type one year run.
Yeah I donāt want a flash in the pan older coach either.
I keep thinking what Steve Fisher did at SDSU. They hadnāt seen the NCAAs in 15 years, in his third year they won the Mountain West.
MW trending toward a 4-5 bid year with five teams in the top 40 of the NET. If Ryan Odom led #33 Utah State can beat #23 San Diego State tomorrow, then Aggies will likely find themselves on the right side of the NCAAT bubble.
Thereās another coach we had and let get away.
The crazy thing is our best two coaches in the last 5 have likely been the interims.
I always thought Ryan got a raw deal. He was iust caughr up in our mess.
Good recruiter and great guy !
Wish we could have a do over with that hiring cycle. We couldnāt have screwed that one up any worse if we tried.
Saw his dad (former Wake coach) at a lot of our games back then.
He is much younger than many of the people that run our country.
Honestly, you think we are going 22-8 next year? If not for our easy out of conference schedule, Iām certain we would be below 500 overall.
Worse than how we are doing is that I have zero hope next year is any better. I felt the same way at this time last year. The soft schedule gave me hope again. It turns out how I felt this time last year was actually correct.
I see no reasons to suspect next year is any different.
