Fire Ron Sanchez

At 20 wins he probably has earned another year

No you won’t. You will be like whack a mole. We lose, you raise your head up. We win, you go back in your hole.

Tonight was a great win against a top team on an 8 game winning streak.

Might as well shut this thread down. It’s Sanchez for life now.

Perhaps. The best predictor of future is past behavior but he said something positive and should get some kudos for that. He doesn’t believe in Ron but it’s obvious he is passionate about Charlotte sports.

Team played gritty and solid defensively. The new lineup seems to have found something. I would like to see Ron figure out how to get Igor more involved. With his size, athleticism, and skill set he can be a match up problem but he seems to be passive offensively. Imagine if he decided to alpha his defender like Patterson does. 6’10 with a jump shot if he developed more of a pick and pop post game he’d be lethal.

I’d like to think so but how many coaches get fired at the G5 level after winning 20 games?

Have a Coke and a smile

I like how Sanchez gave credit to his assistants in the post game

If both Brice and Igor would step up their “alpha” game, we would look a lot different. Not forcing bad shots as both did early in the year, but realizing the guy in front of them can’t cover them.
Our D was tough last night and held both their top scorers down.
It will be interesting to see how we come out on Saturday.

Brice yes, Igor not so much. Watch his footwork, speed and ball handling. He need to work on and develop a post up game with some baby hook shots this summer at a big man camp if he really wants to be more of a contributor. (And continue to work on his 3-point shooting. Brice just needs to get out of his own head and realize he can ball consistently.

I might disagree with it, but I think he secured at least one more season last night.

My exact thought after the game.

He has 2 scholarships left. He needs a HR on both.

I’m not worried about the schollies as much as possible transfers. That’s the world we live in now

I think transfers also use scholarsips. :joy:

I’m talking about guys leaving

People get worked up when Lutz is brought up, but most of really are referencing the players Lutz brought in and coached, directly or indirectly in terms of reference. That’s what we miss. It’s the players. He has to step up with the players he brings into the program. Poggi gets it. Players win or lose, for the most part.

Lutz coached before open transfers with immediate eligibility became a thing. Post C-USA Lutz wasn’t able to get high school players to develop in the program so he back filled his roster with JUCO players to stay competitive. The last great recruit that Lutz developed was Leemire in 2006. They next 4 years were band aids he got to keep the roster afloat. This was the price of changing conferences and his inability to recruit against lesser tier competition. Lutz had a steady decline the last 4 years which coincidently was the first 4 years in the A10.

Sanchez recruited and developed Jahmir Young, Aly Khalifa, and Brice. They are all significantly better than they were when they got here.

It didn’t help his recruiting that Judy made him coach into the final year of his contract. Hard to get HS kids to sign on in those instances.

Last night was awesome.

May I suggest we put off all fire Ron Sanchez talk until after the conference tournament?
