If he ends up with an objective improvement this year, record and performance in the conference tournament, AND he holds the team together (no or non impactful transfers) then my gut says give him another year.
I would hate to be hitting the reset button on basketball heading into the new conference.
Not really. If the determining factor in my mind is conference tournament performance, i canât make a call until that occurs.
Right now - I wouldnât be upset if he gets fired and I wouldnât be furious if he comes back. The tournament is going to push me one way or the other.
Iâm with NWA, the CUSA tournament is going to be the main factor, we are pretty much set into a top 5 finish baring some crazy 2 game skid⌠and if that happens he should be fired anyway lol.
I donât trust him to win a game in the CUSA tournament because well⌠he never has⌠if he can get over that hump bring him back I guessâŚ
Mike Hill hasnât asked me yet just in case anyone was wonderingâŚ
how many answered the poll? were you able to vote twice? did dead people register and vote?
polls are useless. please see last 12 years of election polling. The only people who respond are over the top haters or lovers of whatever the question is, everyone else scrolls down.
No, unfortunately youâre missing the point. He had CUSA talent around him and did not finish in the top 3 in CUSA. Now he has B10 talent around him and is finishing in the top 3 in the B10.
57 people answered the last 2/5 poll. What number is required to continue to post polls? I think they can be someone entertaining for a message board. Sanchezâs NNN approval rating went from 9% to over 50% in one month. Thatâs pretty significant.
What else would you like to discuss in this thread?
Itâs March 1st, over the next what 7-10 days we will have 2 more regular season games and the CUSA tournament, Iâm sure we will have plenty to discuss in this threadâŚ
Before the season the expectation was that the team would struggle this season. The early success not just in wins, but how the team played raised expectations. Looking back to the beginning of the season I donât think too many people thought 20 wins and finishing in the top 5 was realistic. Sanchez gets credit for expecting a down year because of the roster movement, but also gets credit for turning it into what he did. That said I think most are on the fence on him staying with many thinking he should be gone. My gut says Hill keeps him and sees what he can do next year, but I am sure he has a timeline that he hasnât shared as well. Conference tournament will probably play heavily on a decision.
You arenât giving Sanchez a pass for his roster movement though right? Heâs flipped his roster 2 years in a row and if he gets a 6th year, heâll damn sure need to flip it again if he wants to compete for an AAC championship. Itâs only going to get tougher.
over 1,000 NCAA menâs BBall players were in the Portal in 2022. Blaming Sanchez for that new world along with NIL money is ridiculous. Young didnât leave because of Sanchez, he left for the $$$$$s and BMWsâŚ
