Technically, no game weāve played all season has tournament implications. Even CoC better win their conference tourney or no NCAA bid. All the G5, 1 bid conferences are basically only playing for the conference championship. If you go 1 - 25 each year, but win the CUSA tournament, does the season truly matter?
Take it back to where only the conference champions go, or at least limit the P6 to the tournament champion + top 4 and then and only then does the regular season results matter most years for the majority of G5.
Even the AAC might be just Houston if they are their tournament champion.
In year 5 if he canāt win a single damn conf game he has to go.

WRONG
We knew going in that if we won that gameā¦we would guarantee ourselves the #5 spot and secure a 1st round bye in the CUSA Tourneyā¦which is CRITICAL if we want to be serious about having a shot at winning it and getting to the Dance.
Nowā¦afterwardsā¦other teams lost and we backed in anywayā¦but the point isā¦going into the gameā¦it was a HUGE game to win to secure the #5 spot.
And we laid a HUGE egg.
Big implications for us going inā¦against a far inferior opponent (literally the worst team in our bad conference). And Ron still canāt get it done.
A decent coach has his team ready to put their foot on the other teamās throat in this game. But not Ron.

I have to agree with leader on this one.
That was a huge game and he failed to have his team ready to win.
He had the better team by far, could not capitalize.
This loss was bad.

Again, not huge in a 1 bid league. Only difference is 1 less possible game, 3 or 4 to get there. If, as you claim, we wonāt win one, why does it even matter?
Yes it matters.
Because we want to see our team win.
Each game is an event in and of itself.
I actually enjoy watching our regular season games and watching us win them.
The tournament is important but itās not everything.

If Ron flames out early in this conference tournament I donāt know how you can keep him.
But also, I donāt look forward to yet another rebuild. I hope like hell Mike Hill has a plan to minimize it.

I detest when people act like the regular season doesnāt matter. Thatās 90+% of the season, and the bulk of what I am paying for as a fan when I buy season tickets and subscribe to ESPN+
Who wants to be miserable from November til early March and then hope that we somehow pull a miracle?
I want to play regular season games that matter.
And I want to expect to win our fair share of them.

This is my worry. Ron has not met expectations but he should have a talented team again next year if he holds them together.
Iām not sure going into the AAC in a total rebuild is in our best interest and Sanchez has righted the ship and is ever so incrementally improving the results.
It might be better to go into he new conference with some stability.
I would love to see what the team can do with the expected returnees (donāt forget Jallow and Braswell might actually play next year) and the new players.
I also want Brice Williams to have the best team he can for his senior year.
The nightmare scenario is he transferred out because Sanchez left. That would just about break this fans heart.
Goes for Aly Khalifa too.
I will put up with another season of Sanchez if it keeps all that negative stuff from happening.
If the key contributors all transfer out after the season then he has to go I think. But they seem to like and respect him so maybe they will hold together.

Iād love to see Brice in a different more up tempo system myself. Everyone talks about Brice not being aggressive enough sometimes, but how much of that is that the culture of the team. Not suggesting Lutz come back, but I bet in the system Lutz ran and being on those teams we arenāt saying that as much about Brice.

Agreed. Heād certainly be fed and featuredā¦and I expect he would be the primary option in a Lutz system. Lutz would be drawing up plenty of shots coming off of curls and baselineā¦and back door oops like crazy for him.
Would be so fun to watch Brice in that system and in that role.
Everything he posts is an excuse for Sanchezā¦literally everything. Heās either a relative or very very close to the program in some way.
May be one of the parents that love him.
I have no agenda here. I donāt care if he stays or goes. All I care about is if we win. I try to stay objective and support the kids and the program regardless but Ronās approach to the game just isnāt working. He can prove me wrong by winning the tournament. He has the talent to. Nothing in his time here though gives me confidence that he can win 1 game let alone 3 or 4 straight.

Well I guess since Sanchez canāt win a single game in the tournament he needs to be fired immediately by that logic.
