Fire Ron Sanchez

Now now, careful with the antagonistic back and forth, as it reflects the opinions I have been trying to convey all this time…

Only the process matters…Gold Standard is a process slogan

I agree 100%, but then we start getting the complaints that we’re playing crap teams and that’s the only reason we win and it’s all the coach’s fault.

This is the truth. All of it

Remember when the game did matter, it was the players lack of heart…

There are obviously a lot of passionate people on here, some are supporters and some are detractors. I prefer to support.

If, as some are finally admitting that wins during the season are important, then don’t continually piss on the quality of wins. If it’s conference title or bust, then most years you are always going to be disappointed.

I piss on the quality of the wins because many use that as the reason to keep him employed. ā€œYou can’t fire a 17 or 18 win coach.ā€ Really? If the number of wins is masking the fact that he still can’t finish barely .500 in a bad conference and has still yet to win even 1 Conference Tourney game…then the cupcake wins really do NOT matter.

By year 5…he should be easily in the top 3 of this awful league WELL above .500 in Conference play and he should NOT be losing to the worst team in the league in the final stretch of the season. That is the measuring stick and that is why he’s a bum. The empty cupcake wins should not mask that.

But YOU and Mike use them exactly for that reason. THAT’S why I piss on the cupcake wins. It’s a diversion to the fact that he’s still a terrible head coach.

I love Brice but he always seem to be just going through the motions. Most of the team is like that. Other than Aly and Folkes I do not see the will to want to win a game. Everyone wants to win, but only a few really wants to win. Occasionally, you see the fire in Patterson. I probably should not care about it, as most players in the NCAA are like that.

As far as last night. The game was horrible. Worst effort I seen all year except for maybe the first Detroit Mercy game. I do not want to give Sanchez an excuse as the loss is on him. However, it seemed like we already knew we had the 5 seed locked up. The game plan looked very vanilla.

You can be a dickTed here, but not a dictator

What do you consider a good league? If you keep applying P6 standards to G5 leagues, then you’ll never be happy living in the real world as it exists today.

The TV networks don’t want to see Charlotte, FAU, NT, CoC, Kent State, … on TV except as fillers for their content programming. They only want the Big name schools with established brands. Especially in the NCAA tournament.

CUSA 1.0 had brands, Cincy, Louisville, Memphis, we still weren’t a ā€œbrandā€ even back then, because at the end of the day, in our region of the country, they would rather have a bad ACC team on in prime time than Charlotte.

We’ve never gotten a McD AA on campus, maybe only a couple of 4 star recruits and at BEST, a few 3 star players on any given roster that I can ever remeber us having.

To insist we have better talent than the rest of the teams, because you say we have better talent, is delusional and just Trolling. If your assessment of our talent EVER over the course of our history is NBA level, then I guess Brice, Aly, JT, LuCye will all be lottery picks when they go pro.

If instead you think we just have the best talent in CUSA, then you obviously haven’t watched a single game this year and indeed are just Trolling or an extremely poor talent evaluator.

Yes, we need to recruit better players to get better, but every other coach and team in the country is also trying to do the same thing.

Only those who don’t want to admit anything positive can’t deny the fact that Aly, Folks, Brice have improved under this staff. And as frustratingly incremental the improvements have been record wise, even with a poor SOS, we have improved. We won swept La Tech & WKU for the 1st time ever, even after losing our best player.

Will it be enough to keep Ron, only Mike knows. But when that next time comes, screw hiring an experienced HC or top assistant, hire a Used Car Salesman and we might come closer to getting where we want to be in this age of the portal.

I’ve said my piece on Sanchez so no need for that again but TV loves Cinderella in the Dance. Didn’t know people didn’t know that

Expecting us to hit CUSA 1.0 post season levels is tough in a league that isn’t that good and doesn’t give us at large opportunities. I get that. However expecting us to be better in this league isn’t too tall an ask. Expecting us to finish in the top 4 more years than not, expecting more than 20 wins given the league, expecting to win more than 1 game at every conference tournament - these things are well within our abilities and to think they aren’t is ridiculous.

We have a supreme case here of some people having outsized expectations given where we sit in the college basketball universe. You more than likely aren’t going to be happy most years.

We also have some folks that are using our current place as an excuse for substandard performance. That shouldn’t be accepted either.

We had the number 1 player in the country committed to us, had 2, 5 stars(iti and Heyward) so youre not exactly accurate. The majority of our current roster are 3 star kids.

No reason we shouldn’t be competing to win the conference in a historically one bid league. That should be a coaches minimum expectation, competing for conference championships against your peers. We aren’t talking about the ā€œbig schoolsā€ that networks like to put on tv. We are talking about our peers in CUSA. Ron has not shown he can create a team that can compete with our peers for conference championships. How do you retain a coach for a 6th year that has not shown that?

Yes, NET rankings and all that should be included but if you are 1-2 in CUSA, that should work itself out.

If in 5 years you are Ofer in the conference tournament seems decision is easy to make.

To add, if after 5 years, the hype on new incoming freshmen recruits does not exist…
