Fire Ron Sanchez

What killed our student attendance and attendance in general was dropping the back to back Florida games on the road. We went from thinking we may have turned the corner to nope. Best UTSA then Two more losses. 4 losses out of 5 games in early January just absolutely killed the momentum we had built up to that point. Hard to blame people for bailing as it looks like ah same old niners. Don’t put that on the conference schedule - that’s on us.

Is Withers even considering the Niners? Has he mentioned where he’s looking to play? Does Ron know about him? lol, questions, questions…

We recruited him very heavy out of HS so he is aware of us for sure.

Playing with the new Google Bard AI chat beta today… This is the worst response of the 3.

  • Strong track record of winning games?
  • Good recruiter?

Just pointing out that students make up half the crowd most games. The Florida games hurt, but students already had missed 2 or 3 home wins by that point, so no momentum built.

The point that was being responded to, was the comments that our attendance was poor. Eliminate half the fans for 5 games and I guess it was. Especially with the alumni that don’t bother attending but complain about the empty seats.

Ok I’m old and maybe I misremember but back 20 yrs ago I had season tix for yrs and I don’t remember the place having 8k fans and half were students.

NA, TSD, Bigtime, MeanJoe. Am I wrong about that?? I did bar gate before most games so I accept I may be incorrect

When I was in school 2005-2009, official figures were 7000-7500 average attendance. Butts in seats was probably more in the 6500 range on average, but it was enough to make it a fun atmosphere.

The student side would fill up into the upper section when we were good with just a few empty seats at the top and corners. But I think they also sold some of those tickets to the general public.

Hard to get a # for students. We definitely had much larger student sections back then.

When I was there 97-01, almost every game was sold out. We were camping in tents to get tickets to certain games. It was great! I really hope we can get back to that level again soon. I would love for my son to see a 49ers team that is top 25 like I did.

I think you are all forgetting we just made it to the Final 4

Huh??

Just sayin that we should get a banner for the CBI Final 4 (or better) and you can’t fire a coach after taking you to a Final Four. And I am buying shirts for the entire family.

Sorry, kid just turned 21 and we are celebrating appropriately

Win those games the student turn out the rest of the season would have been great.I attended all but a few this year. Student turnout over the break was actually pretty decent compared to previous years because we looked like we might do something.

Hootie, I’ve blocked out so many years of niner basketball that I barely remember last year.

clt hopes the restaurant has ample burrito supplies

From 02-06 we used to blitz dorms and the Belk Tower to get students to come. Minus the big games which were campouts, folks just didn’t come like they should. Social media was just starting so we couldn’t really use that. It was an issue in the AD then.

Too bad we can’t light up the tower green anymore

Does anyone have an urn with the ashes??

In my day, Halton was just full because we had great teams that were fun to watch. The only thing we had with social and media were probably a paper pamphlet from Brocker Health regarding how venereal diseases are shared. We did have that internet mail, or e-mail as you youngins call it today
