At this point…would love to hear Mike interviewed to discuss expectations for year 6. The rebuild is over…we are beyond 5 years. It’s about time to put some real metrics out in front of the fans as it relates to expectations.

Not…learning, growing or building culture. He’s had time to do that. Now it’s time to produce…so what are the production metrics going forward that Sanchez will be judged on??

Conference record? .500?
Conference finish? Top 5?
Conference tourney wins? At least 1?
Postseason? Anything OTHER than CBI?

These are mostly very low bars for year 6…but I also don’t see him reaching many if any.

Very curious to hear from the horses mouth what Mike’s standards of expectation are now for year 6. He said it was going to be a process…that it was unrealistic to compete for championships out of the gate…based on how bad of shape the program was in. But in year 6, coming off of a postseason Championship what is our pass/fail for next season??

Mike is going to tell you we only won 9 games a few seasons ago and we just won 22 games which is the most since 2001. Things are moving in the right direction.

I don’t agree with him but he only sees Ron through rose colored glasses.

Your examples of people succeeding is nice. They do not prove it isn’t diffficult.
That is a different subject from Ron’s ability or lack thereof.

There was a time people said that when someone would mention starting football. :joy:

Look at it this way there aren’t a whole lot of people who still care about Niner hoops. At least they care to beat the dead horse. If I quit complaining about it I’m probably just gonna throw in the towel.

It’s like they say in wrestling. Cheer me or boo me - as long as you respond you are invested.

I care as much as anyone. Ron is here next year so I will choose to root him and the team on no matter what.
We will see how it ends.

Go Niners!

Anyone still posting here cares - regardless of the nature of their posts.

Once the season cranks up I’ll be back on the side of pulling for Ron but I’m not gonna be happy about it. Not sure I can buy a season ticket cheaper than 226 but if I can that’s what I’ll buy. Until then though I’m still gonna complain and I do think donors and students deserve an explanation from Mike on how he sees things.

Thanks Obeg.

Unlike Ted I try to go back and edit my posts for grammar. I missed those two. I’ve corrected it.

Thanks for pointing out my error!!!

Thanks buddy!!!

Yeah your right.

I was fine with keeping Sanchez until Aly and Brice went in the portal.

The Brice transfer hurts too much.

And we need a new coach if he loses his top 3 players in a row.

Exactly you could at least make a case for Ron running it back with mostly the same team. Now though?

I was thinking of just going to GA season tickets just to keep my points in case we ever elevate ourselves from bottomfedder status. Had been getting two in 126 now looking at two in $75 GA section.

One GA it is.

Yep that sounds like what I’ll probably do as well.

This is how I feel.

What is making things worse is acting like this team was one of the best 49er teams of all time. It is flat out disrespectful. I’m not even sure if it was Ron’s best team here.

ā€œ22 wins, most wins since 2001ā€ - 4 wins in a pay to play exhibition tournament. It is shameful even mentioning those 2 teams in the same breath. NA laid out a nice little history lesson above.

ā€œFirst postseason championship in program historyā€- Call me crazy but I consider conference tournament championships as postseason championships. I certainly hold them much higher prestige than the CBI.

Before the CBI we were an 18 win team that finished under .500 in conference and failed to win a conference tournament game.

When he kept talking about the kids needing one and done experience, I was thinking yeah that is what the conference tournament games have been.

This is the thing that drives me crazy. At this point, whether he knows it or not, he is approaching being disrespectful to our programs past & is insulting our intelligence.

If Mike Hill reads this forum or has anyone who reads it for him, he needs to understand how blowing smoke about how great this season was just makes things worse. They need to stop that unless they just want to continue to turn fans away. Those of us who have seen this program when it was really good know enough to recognize bull shit when we hear it & pretending like we just had our best season since 2001 is some world class bull shit.
