Do you not see how you lose credibilty with a comment like that. First, we do not want to be like âmost teamsâ. Considering there are 300+ teams in our division, âmost teamsâ would mean your ranked 150 or higher. Second, please do not use the NIT as a measuring stick for success. If anything, the fact that we did not make the NIT, while UAB and NT did, is a knock against Ron. Third, while we finished 5th in conference, we had a losing record. Fourth, prior to the post season tourneys our RPI was 146. Just look at some of the top 50 RPI teams and tell me shouldnât be competing against them.
RPI hasnât been used by the NCAA since I believe 2018 since being replaced by the NET ranking. Frankly whenever someone uses that in an argument makes me wonder if they actually follow college basketball or they just google a stat to fit their argument.

NET is stupid. We went like 2-7 in January & our ranking barely changed. The fact that the NCAA uses NET makes me think they donât watch basketball.
Not like the RPI wasnât Beverly flawed as well as it took into less account metrics than the NET. That and you can find different sites with different RPI rankings for every team. Fact is what the NCAA uses is what matters not something they ditched.
By the way went from 76 in NET on Jan 4th to 96 on Jan 31st.
Net RPi or whatever metric you want to use in a the same. We werenât good enough to be considered good. Just varying degrees of bad.
Thatâs not a very big drop for the record we had in January. I think NET, RPI & alll of that style rankings are kind of useless until it gets down to seeding teams for the tournament. Something we donât have to worry about. We should judge success based on what we do in our conference against schools that are supposed to be our peers. We had a losing record.
If my memory serves me correctly the RPI didnât change drastically either. Although I totally agree they are all pretty useless to a degree.
My point was more about grading on what is actually being used by the NCAA if your going to use any of them to begin with.
Thereâs some truth to your point about 2018. Since our Rpi/net ranking has been in the +150 for a decade, I donât follow it that closely.
But for the proposes of my post, it appeared to me the rankings on NCAA.com were after post season, 4/3. I found a pre tourney Rpi ranking from 3/12 more easily.
Lastly. Iâm fine if you want to use Net instead. It doesnât change my point about looking at the top 50 teams and thinking we should be competing with them.
Not just flawed but â Beverly flawedâ. Man that has to be bad.
Sorry made me laugh especially if you watch the âGoldbergsâ.
Itâs never gonna happen
Charlotte is a sleeping giant. Great arena. Great recruiting area. Solid conference. They just need to bring in a coach whose on court product wonât lose viewers to the paint drying competition going on down the street.
Itâs crazy thinking back to the awesome environment at Halton around the turn of the century vs the yawn fest that itâs been recently. Maybe the biggest drop off in college basketball during that time.
Iâve never seen a coach so willing to call out players on a post-game interview and throw them under the bus. He basically never held himself accountable or put a loss on himself. Then he was completely full of platitudes and coach jargon but wouldnât set observable metrics to be held accountable. The absolute worst kind of "leader. "
Glad UVA is happy to have him back. In my 21 years of being a Niner Iâve never been so glad to see a coach in any sport leave.
Is Clt suddenly speaking in first person or did he forget how to use quotation marks?
I believe Mr. Price would throw players under the bus and then get in a drive it !
clt fixed it. quotes from reddit
Fire Sanchez. There, I feel better
I had been waiting so long for him to be firedâŚbut him quitting is so much better.
Itâs Ron being a quitter first and foremost (proves his âpillarsâ talk was all bullsh!t)
Itâs Ron understanding what we all could seeâŚthat he could never win at a respectable level and knew his firing was inevitable
Itâs Ron giving up on Ron before Mike was willing tooâŚas if to say even Ron knew better than Mike about his ability
Ron paid us for him to leaveâŚwhich is the best part of all!!
