I really wonder how many games we would have won without Briceās scoring. Probably would have lost the 2 early conference home games where he scored over 30. Probably wouldnāt have gone on that 4 game conference winning streak that kept our conference record from being total crap. We most likely end up with 5 to maybe 7 conference wins without him. He may have been confused out there but he was still way more valuable than the guys who totally followed what Sanchez wanted them to do. I typically side with the older, more mature coach in these situations, but Sanchezās game plan on offense has proven to be dog shit over the past 5 seasons so I donāt really blame a very gifted offensive player for having a hard time following & comprehending what an offensively challenged coaching staff is asking him to do.
Yes. Obviously, not many players with extreme athletic talent are lining up to play for Sanchez.
Amazing that everything is Ronās fault, no matter what. Sad that people canāt be objective. Am I happy with our results, no. Do I think Ron has one more year to prove it, yes.
Does he shoulder the blame for all of it, no.
He doesnāt shoot the ball, let a guy blow by for a layup, rebound or not rebound.
Basketball is a team sport.
I choose to root the team and these kids on this upcoming season. Time will tell the tale.
Hope the haters have to eat crow and honestly I hope you hope the same. I would love to see a top 2 finish in conference and get to the dance.
There are a couple of other coaches in CUSA who had very talented players transfer as well.
Ronās hardly unique in that aspect. It would be great if he or a his replacement could hold on to those players, but odds are he or they wonāt be able to do that in the current college basketball environment.
Harry was a terrible basketball coach.
Yeah. Ut he recruits the players missing the shots, not rebounding and nit hustling. He also preaches culture but recruits and starts locker room cancers
Calling people haters for wanting ron gone is ridiculous. Hes had 5 years. We dont want him to fail but he has. What in his 5 years makes you think we will finish top 2?
D.O.B.A. every word.
Please tell me you have had a chance to say this directly to Mikeā¦and if not, promise me you will.
I would love to see those same things & hope I am proven wrong. I gave Ron the benefit of the doubt for the first 3 years but after 5 years of the same bad offense & poor defense with a different cast of characters I believe most of the issues stem from coaching. There are excuses for every team every year but good coaches find ways to win in their own conference against their peers. I hope he proves me wrong next season & evolves into a better coach. Unfortunately I think he shares your feelings that he has done nothing wrong so he doesnāt see a need to change.
Things are mostly Ronās fault because the problems on the team have been consistent regardless of the players. The defense the shot clock violations the poor offense - all hallmarks of all of Rons teams. I do hope I am wrong.
There are at least 4 games we lose without Brice and then our center shooting 3s - some of them bail out 3s at shot clock won us another 2 or 3.
With the depleted bench we had this past season, probably couldnāt have made up for his scoring.
Based on a lot of the authorities that post here, we were better off without JY.
I guess weāll see this coming season, just how we do without Brice and how he does at Nebraska.
Offense flowed better without Jahmir nit sure we were better without him though.
This ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
These are his players, Sanchez and his coaching staff ( which he assembles ), evaluates potential high school recruits and college transfers based upon mental toughness, skill level, and physical attributes, so if these players cant shoot, play defense, and rebound, that is still on Sanchez, he is responsible for recruiting and player development
I agree the offense flowed better without him. Maryland seemed to do well with him though.
If we have a coach that canāt succeed with talent, how is that going to work out?
Everything about our basketball program is counter intuitive at the moment. Itās like everything that makes sense, we do the opposite. It feels like we are purposely making all this hard.
But thatās ok, because itās Ron.
I think thatās Ronās calling card. Making something simple difficult.
Sanchez has already failed.
Heās getting another season because of $, and the fact we had to fire Healy.
Donāt use the āhe doesnāt have to make the shots passes and reboundsā card here. Heās not a proven winning coach that can point at the players as the problem.
The lack of success falls squarely at his feet. Period.
If he has success next year then he should be appreciated appropriately for a job well done.
The bad thing in this situation is that we all know he sucks at his job and we are just waiting for him to be fired or quit or his contract expire.
Iāll still be pulling for the team next year, but not confidently because our coach is not good. He has had 5 years to prove that. Which he has done.
LOL. You se what I did there.
Hey. Itās not an absolute metaphysical certainty that he will suck next year.
He could fall ass backwards into a great team dynamic and get lucky. LOL
I think thatās what he did this season & we saw about the best he can do with that scenario. I hope he proves me wrong. Please Ron Iām begging you to prove us all wrong. Except Ted & the other 3 guys who are already happy with you. Youāre already proving them wrong.
