The contract should clarify if it is 100% guaranteed. For instance Majorâs base was but not his supplemental. Bobbyâs was 100% guaranteed. Does your copy specify the different sources of the pay and how much is guaranteed?
Yes, this is an important distinction. An article I found from 2019 states his base pay is $450k and he has incentives above that up to $200k. The Charlotte Biz Journal article from Oct 2021 states his base pay is still $450k. Any firing, Charlotte would only be on the hook for the base pay x remainder of contract.
It should also specify if there is an offset on that should he get another coaching job and we have to pay the difference. We would still need to be prepared to pay the full amount but that could offer some financial relief.

First extension. I was wrong. This is a $225k increase to supplemental. So we would only owe the original $450k. We double the supplemental.
So we would owe $1.8 mil if we let him go the end of this year.
