Offset is not specific to Head coach either. I would imagine even his assistant salary would maybe cut the base per year impact in half.

Getting into the conference tourney?
Conference tourney final?
Winning conference regular season title?
Winning conference tourney title and the auto bid to the NCAA tournament?
Maybe if we found him another job?
Saturday is a big game. Win that and I think they can finish .500 for the year and Mike will keep him.
Lose Saturday and that will be 4 in a row headed to 7 in a row. Hard to keep a team together losing 7 in a row. Things may go bad.

GW and Valpo āshouldā be winnable games or letās put it at 60/40. You make it seem like Valpo is a 100% loss. They arenāt that good. If we lose youāll say I told you so but letās not act like they are a top 100 team.
I agree that Ark and wake donāt seem very winnable after the last 3 games.

We donāt have any donors that would give 1.8M to buy out a Coachā¦ We barely have any major donors lol
We have some big donors lined up for facilities plan. Issue is you donāt want to move their donation from facilities to buying out a bad coach.

I realize a lot has changed over the years, so the typical path to becoming a head coach not the same now as it was in the 1970s and 1980s. That said, hereās the pre-Charlotte lineage of our MBB head coaches since becoming D-I in 1970 up through Lutz:
Bill Foster (1970-75) - HC at then NAIA Shorter College in GA, then AC at The Citadel prior to being named HC at UNCC;
Lee Rose (1975-78) - AC stints at alma mater D-III Transylvania U in KY, as well as at Cincinnati, prior to succeeding C.M. Newton (longtime SEC coach and AD) as HC and AD at Transylvania before replacing Foster when latter left for Clemson. (Interesting tidbit - also served stint as baseball coach at Transylvania, where he had been a 2-sport player);
Mike Pratt (1978-82) - Kentucky MBB player under legendary coach Adolph Rupp and a couple of seasons in the ABA before serving as an AC under Rose. Promoted to HC when Rose left for Purdue;
Hal Wissel (1982-85) - HC at D-III Trenton State College (now College of New Jersey), D-I Lafayette in PA and Fordham in NYC (succeeded Digger Phelps when he left for Notre Dame), and AC with NBA ATL Hawks prior to becoming HC at D-II Florida Southern U (3 straight FFs 1980-82, including D-II champs in 1981);
Jeff Mullins (1985-1996) - heralded HS, college, Olympics, and NBA playing career, including 1964 gold medal with Team USA and 1975 NBA champs with Golden State Warriors. ACC TV analyst after retiring as a player;
Melvin Watkins (1996-98) - UNCC alum who played on 1976 NIT runner-up team and 1977 NCAA FF team. Served as AC under Pratt, Wissel, and Mullins prior to replacing the latter;
Bobby Lutz (1998-2010) - Clemson AC, then HC at D-II Pfeiffer before becoming AC at alma mater Charlotte under Mullins and Watkins. (Briefly HC at Gardner-Webb between Pfeiffer and Charlotte though never coached an actual game at G-W)
You will probably get a different answer from everyone on the board, but I think in year four we should be a top 150 team (would like top 100 but that seems like a stretch). That would equate to top 4 conference, which would also mean we would have a winning record. If he replicated the results of his second year I think most would be fine with that, and hoping we can make another jump up next year.
Right now I would be surprised with a winning record, anything around 500 maybe we keep him because heās expensive to fire, but the fans wonāt be around, anything under 500 I donāt see how you can keep him.

What does Mike Hill see in Sanchez? Iāve heard him interviewed about Sanchez and talk about āthe power of Ronā. Every time I hear Ron speak Iām underwhelmed and his coaching results stink.
Itās hard to quantify the number of wins but I think under .500 and you have no choice but to let him go. If he equals year 2 I think he for sure stays and in between itās iffy.
The problem is we are not looking good at all and are looking more like year 3 than a year 2 team at the moment. Iām normally a sunshine pumper when it comes to Niner sports but donāt see how he can right the ship.
Regardless the extension was a mistake, he wasnāt going anywhere.
Anything short of top 4 in league and its time to move on IMO. The extensions are weird to me, but you hear people say coaches need 3/4 years under contract to recruit - so I guess at worse we are on the hook for an extra year.
I just donāt get why getting us back has proven so difficult.

I think he will survive the season with a .500 record.
I was very disappointed to see his comment on the heart of his players.
I saw his players trying very hard in a shit system and I saw several times on offense them looking over to coaches seeming to be confused about what they wanted them to do (later in the game when I bet the coaching staff had given up but the players hadnāt)
I donāt follow Sanchez comments often but the interview in the observer was very concerning. Does this guy ever take responsibility for his failures? He had a more talented team and failed to game plan and coach them to a competitive game. This is a different conversation of the game was close. But he laid a complete egg out there Tuesday. Is he a buck passer who blames his players for everything?

It is a weird dynamic. The players always look like > there is no pleasing this MF but yet no big transfers last year. The power of Ron must be some kind of guru type mind fuck he puts out because everyone looks disinterested and frustrated ( no heart) because they just canāt win with him but keep failing along with him.
I will say this. After the Bahamas post game Ron sounded frustrated and under pressure from shitting in the bed but after Davidson it was back to the growth and pillars talk like someone had reassured him all was good and to stick to the process.
Noā¦ the answer is no. He doesnāt ever take responsibilities for his failures. Its why I turned sour in him before any of you. He thinks his rigid inflexible āsystemā is infallible and heās been throwing olayers under the bus for a while now. Iāve never seen such a bone headed niners coach.
