Fire Ron Sanchez

I don’t like where we’re at and I don’t know what the magic numbers for stay or leave are. But conference play hasn’t even begun. A case can and will be made that if we’re around .650 in conference, he’s staying.

.650? That’s kind of a random number but breaking out the calculator that would be around a 12-6 record ( 18 conf games, don’t remember it being that high in the past oh well) I think that would be top 4 in the conference, which I think most would agree we could give him another year…

I’m not holding my breath we get to double digit conf wins though, we will know at the end of feb.

If we finish 0.650 that’s at least a 20 win season, not counting conference tournament games, so yeah he should be safe if we do that. Although I don’t think that’s very likely. Hopefully I’m wrong.

Talent wise… 20 win should be cake. We’ll be lucky to hit 15 with no game plan Dirty Sanchez running the show.

ā€œWinning is hardā€¦ā€

I hate when Sanchez and Healy say that… It’s like some self defeating mentality.

Well they’re both losers, so what they said is true for them.

LOL. Plenty of winning coaches have said winning is hard. Alabama’s head football coach recently was bitching about how their fans did not appreciate how hard it is. Last I heard, he is no loser.

There’s a difference between coach speak and excuse making. Winning ain’t hard for Saban, he gets a top 3 recruiting class every year. For the most part he’s gonna win 11 or 12 games a year by showing up on time.

Saban means winning EVERY game is hard for an SEC school… huge difference when Sanchez finds comfort saying the same phrase

OK. I give up. Winning is easy.

It was never going to be about wins and losses Sanchez’s first two years. Heck, maybe even the first three. It was going to be about building towards something. Anybody feel like we are gaining momentum? Like we are getting close to a breakout season? At this point I’m resigned to the fact that Sanchez has two more years, after this year, to prove he’s the guy. But I’m not excited right now. Tonight could be a great opportunity to show us something. But I have zero faith in Sanchez. He just looks inept. If we get blown out then I’m tuning out until conference tourney time. Maybe I’ll check the Wake score. Hill has to earn my hard earned dollars and Sanchez isn’t cutting it right now.

Year 2 really had me excited about the direction. That team could have made noise in conf tourny. Last year was a disaster all the way around. This year has been really uneven. I am not sure what we are doing, we can score but we don’t consistently. We can play D, but we don’t consistently. Ron heard the critics and has gotten into the offense faster than previous years. We have been able to build some sizable leads. I just don’t know whats going on. The bahama losses didn’t bother me too much, but the Davidson game really aggravated me. We looked unprepared for a cross town rival we play every year coming off back to back losses and a week off. If we had been close that would be one thing but we weren’t. The fact that basically one guy killed us and we didn’t shift the D to covering him. Hell Bobby would have gone into a box and 1 and said ok you might win but he isnt going to beat us.

It irks me that Ron doesn’t just shoulder the blame. Coaching through the media and sound bites doesn’t work. The differences between good leaders and crappy ones is accepting responsibility. If you got an issue with player efforts tell them face to face.

True that.
I was sitting i n the stands at the Davidson game wondering why we didn’t at least try a box and one. I guess the answer might be that the pack line is designed for 5 players and we don’t know how to employ regular zone principles.

I think Sycamore nailed it, Ron hasn’t been able to build anything here, this is his 4th yeah and we have 1 upper classman (Young) that has been in the system that contributes… the 2020 exodus really hurt. Couple that with the covid year, this is a make it or break it top 4 in the conference shot at the dance in the cusa tournament year for me.

I’ll give him the entire year to see if he can do it but at this point it’s looking like it’s the same ol, can’t coach, can’t motivate, bad hire.

I think sample size is large enough to see that this isn’t gonna work….

Ron will be quick to tell you we are one or two defensive possessions away from success, and be happy to call out individual players in the process.

Instead of a pack line, we all want to see Sanchez pack suitcase

Lol. How’s it random? I did the exact same thing as you, used a calculator. If we continue on the same trajectory, there’s a really good chance we’re 6-6 out of conference. Anything .600 or below in conference is going to put us at best 16-14 overall. Which I think puts Sanchez in the gray area.

My main point though was for those who think Sanchez should be gone today, if he only improves his win % marginally from .570 to .650, he’ll be staying.

I get what you’re saying because they’re a rival. But by the end of the season, Davidson is most likely going to be the best team of the 7 games we’ve already played (all though, we’re Monmouth’s only lost thus far). To me, they’ve all been very aggrevating. We haven’t played a ā€œgreatā€ team. Yet we have 3 losses and all 4 of our wins have been squaked out.
