We run the same offensive set and same defense every possession of every game regardless of who weāre playing. And since we do that⦠There are no in game adjustments made either.
So no matter the strength or weaknesses of who weāre playing nor whether itās working or not⦠We do the same shit offensively and defensively all game every possession.
That is not coaching. Itās installing a system. You canāt just rely on a system without scouting, adjustments and actual in game coaching.
Yeah itās less that they are a rival and more about the other dynamics. We play every year so we know what they like, we were coming off 2 losses so no big head, we had a week to prepare so no tired or quick turn around excuse. All of those things point to we should have been prepared and full of energy. Not what we saw.
Was listening to āTiger Callsā on ESPN 730 and had the Clemson menās soccer coach on talking about team defeating #1 seed Oregon State to advance to the College Cup in Cary this coming weekend. Said āwinning isnāt easyā!
Not sure why coaches get rewarded for underperforming. The contracts we are forced to sign to get a HC forces us to pay them for years when the are released. It must be nice.
Perhaps we need to write a bigger check on the front end compared to paying ongoing salaries for coaches that get released early.
Letās get someone that gets recruited away and we get the supplemental check as opposed to paying less, taking a risk, underperforming, and then paying an ongoing salary while bringing on their replacement. Seems to me that we keep throwing money away.
That is part of the challenge of hiring ānamesā. They have the leverage. I know with Ron there was at least one other school that wanted to hire him.
Part of the reason why next time I would love to hire someone from a lower level that maybe has less heat around him.
The problem is you know how the NCAA treats schools like us. If we bring in someone with some questionable issues we are gonna get slammed. Just the way it is. I donāt mind a coach that operates in the grey area like Bobby did, but if we bring in a coach with red flags we are not going to escape the punishment and likely that comes down before we even have a chance to experience winning.
That, plus the obvious financial implications of firing a coach under contract, is why its no simple decision for Mike Hill as to whether or not to fire Ron. I donāt envy him his position.
I donāt disagree to a point but my position is fuck it. We may as well have been on probation the last 15 years. At least if we have a few good years and make the tourney itāll be fun.
Whatās the old saying? Desperate times call for desperate measures. I think this qualifiesā¦
Yeah I just donāt think we would get a chance to win. NCAA would prob hold his players out or something because thatās the shit we have to deal with. We would be the school that gets serious NCAA penalties without any winning. Cuz Charlotte.
