Oh ok, you extolled Anzacs virtues and said Milos is weak, but you didnāt mean he was better or should start. Got it.
Womenās tennis is balling now.
We played much better tonight, they were hot from outside and we sill hung in there. Anzac has improved from last year but I would like Garcia to get some of those minutes.
Iām not going to turn cartwheels after sweeping FIU in two games we won by the skin of our teeth, but itās nice to get two Ws. We need to crush MT next weekend and stop playing down to the level of our competition. Two more Ws and Ws got a run going.
Anzac is a black hole on our offensive end. The ball dies when it gets in his hands. He is unsure and hesitant on his distribution. It makes Garcia look like a PG when he comes in and actually makes passes to cutters going toward the basket. Anzac never seems to make a pass toward the basket to a cutter. He usually hesitates , fakes and then has to wait for a player to come by him to hand the ball off. Our offense is set up for the 5 to receive the ball a lot at the top of the key and it hurts when he is do indecisive. He and Shoe Pizza also get a lot of moving screen calls on them every game.
In his defense, he did have 5 assists today. He has improved but he has a ways to go.
Anzac has the heart and plays his ass off when heās on the floor, but he has a long way to go.
Much better than last year, if he puts in work and makes another big jumpā¦maybe next year he owns the paint.
I could see him following the javarris Barnett trajectory. Barnett looked a little better every season and was one of our better players his senior season. He never really made huge leaps like Brice did this offseason, just steady improvement. Iād be happy with that.
Definitely should have swept the Panthers, especially when they were without their two leading scorers etc who collectively account for around 40% of FIUās offensive output of 76.7 ppg - Antonio Daye (17.4 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 5.0 apg, 2.3 spg per 31.8 mpg) and Rashad Davis (13.3 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.2 apg per 28.3 mpg).
Itās so frustrating that we struggle this much with bad teams missing their best players.
Not trying to refute the āBad Teamā label, but they shot the lights out in the first half on Saturday! Thatās not bad!
I agree with that. But they also couldnāt hit the broad side of a barn on Friday night & we needed overtime to win. Missing their 2 best players should have really helped us but we always seem to play up or down to the competition.
We were probably lucky that their two best players were out, but they still had plenty of fire-power in the first half. A mark of an okay team. Letās donāt make it worse than it was!
No argument that FIU had a very good first half in game 2 after a horrible performance in game 1. Just seems like we play to the circumstances. So if a team is missing a couple of its best players, no problemo for them.
As tough as the win Saturday was, I thought the team played better than in the Friday game. The first half of that game was just bad basketball, and we were lucky FIU couldnāt hit anything.
A 3-game win streak! Hope we continue it.
I think Risetto does some good things on the floor, particularly when heās not trying to run on the break. Heās still learning, but we donāt need for him to be a star, just solid (better than heās doing right now, but itās certainly conceivable he can achieve that).
Is Supica hurt? Heās really struggled after having some good games earlier in the season.
Williams had a better game Saturday. 6-9 from the field (two nice jump shots just rimmed out), including a big-time three with a defender right there.
He had an injury to his face (nose or eye?) and he was supposed to wear a mask to protect himself but didnāt want to. Heās definitely had less of an impact lately. I wonder if it coincides with the injury?
Or is it because we are calling him Shoe Pizza now?
I donāt think we do much as play up or down to the competition as I think this is the nature of the game running these offensive and defensive systems. Make the game ugly, slow it down and keep it close - regardless of who we are playing.
You may have something there !
Shoe Pizza has struggled more than Spica
Was playing with a chip on his shoulder due to stupid Americans mispronouncing his name. Now happy and not motivated, Need to return to calling him sue-pee-ka.
So if you have a son name him Bill or George or Milos. Anything but Sue
