I have been unbelievably pissed and still am, since this game was postponed. And now seems another wave of infections are beginning across the world. I’m not sure we’ll play again this year, but seems everyone else is. PISSED.
Data from clinical laboratories in the United States indicated a 61% decrease in the number of specimens submitted (from a median of 49,696 per week during September 29, 2019–February 29, 2020, to 19,537 during March 1–May 16, 2020) and a 98% decrease in influenza activity as measured by percentage of submitted specimens testing positive (from a median of 19.34% to 0.33%).
Interseasonal circulation of influenza in the United States (May 17–August 8, 2020; weeks 21–32) is now at historical lows (weekly median 0.20% of samples testing positive in 2020 versus 2.35% in 2019, 1.04% in 2018 and 2.36% in 2017).
Well, that makes perfect sense. Anyone wearing a mask and socially distancing is unlikely to contract the seasonal flu. Lots more people are doing that now than before the pandemic. (Except in Florida)
So if people are wearing masks and social distancing to the affect that flu cases are down 95% why are COVID cases on the rise?
Probably has something to do with Covid being way more easily transmitted than seasonal flu.
Could the fact we have a flu vaccine also have something to do with it? Social distancing, masking and a mature vaccination program all working together.

The spike in new cases is the inverse of the decline in daily deaths. This is not getting any media attention, unfortunately. There is enough time now to show that treatment for this virus has significantly reduced the mortality rates, even when acknowledging the higher rates for younger/healthier people

FIU postpones another game. Do they have any COVID protocol in place?
Healy mentioned on the Coach’s Show today that we’re trying to reschedule for Dec 5th with them but it’s definitely not set in stone.
FIU cancels another game. Their athletic department should be embarrassed.

They might as well just join ODU & sit this season out. Not even possible at this point to make up all of their missed conference games.

If the FIU game actually happens I’ll be shocked. They dont seem to be able to get their shit together and COVID is only going to get worse between now and then.
