Football Coach Candidates?

Mike specifically talked numbers in the last board of trustees meeting. He said we’d make roughly a million dollars more our first year in the aac and it would step up from there, but he didn’t say how much.

The aac signed a two year extension with espn of the current contract a few weeks ago.

most contracts offset. In other words Satterfield makes the same amount regardless, just whatever we pay him lowers the amount Louisville is on the hook for.

WTLF? Is Lamberts brother on the board now? He was terrible and so is Healy.

To quote Bill Parcells, you are what your record says you are. I’ve sai before whiffing on Houston set us back 10 years.

We need an equivalent. I personally like Holtz, I think that would check a lot of boxes

I hear Paul Cryst is now available. No thanks. But what does that say about a program that says enough is enough vs. one that says, what are our options?

And discount any coaching wins vs. FCS teams when doing the math on records. But count the losses like AT&T and W&M.

I think if we could slam together Lambert’s defensive skills and ā€œold school waysā€ with Healy’s energy and rah-rah flex powers we’d have a half-way decent G5 head coach.

So a coach who has an 86-45 overall record in 10+ seasons and is 7-2 in bowl games isn’t worth looking at? Hmm…

I don’t think anyone is disagreeing with you on this. What I said in another thread is that expansion is going to happen, there’s no need to debate it. We’re underachieving with what we currently have.

Sure beats our 37 wins in 9+ seasons.

Of course stability is beneficial. But we’re underachieving with what we have to work with. I don’t know this for a fact, but I suspect our turnover and budget is comparable to our peers. We know App has had 3 sucessful coaches over a 3 year span. JMU has been 103-31 since Houston’s departure. Jeff Traylor at UTSA is 22-9 in just 2 1/2 years.

The argument about climbing the mountain and paying the staff is more true in comparison to P5 schools. But we have bad losses to UTEP, William and Mary and FAU.

I’m not sure how we stack up on assistant salaries versus these peers, but I don’t disagree with you about us underachieving and did not mean to offer it as an excuse. I think it’s just a contributing factor to our suckage. At some point we have to exceed our limitations instead of constantly playing well, well below them.

Speaking of that let’s go snatch the JMU coach…

I thought Cignetti was running the option at Elon and would be at JMU too, which is why I was never interested in him. Is he running a more standard offense? Because the results can’t be argued with.

The only other issue with him is that he is 61 already. No spring chicken.

Well, we went young this time, and I’m starting to wonder if we will be good by the time I’m 61.

Agree. We need an adult as head coach - not someone more interested in being a club marketer.

Agree, but both would be awesome.

Good call

I’d take Cryst in a second if we make a move.

Well, I was hoping Healy would get fired today……

Why would Chryst even be interested in a job here? Unless he has close family in the metro region I know of zero ties he has to the Carolinas. Does he have a beach or mountain home down here?

Chryst doesn’t need the work. He’s set financially.
