I was going to take time blocks of these youtube videos of Spangler saying:
“That’s what Carolina and State are for”
“You should work on your intramurals”
As I think those comments of assholishness should be in our football intro, but apparently the videos are now “private”. WTF?
I say we make a video with a compilation of footage from the push for 49er football. We’ll include footage from the rallies and fox news rising. We’ll do it to E.S. Posthumus - Unstoppable, and we’ll insert those comments in the pause around 2:00. When the music kicks back in, it’ll be to the time lapse of the stadium construction. Voila… Awesome video.

I endorse this song for our intro. Instead, though… the assholish comments are spread throughout, the last one being the “train without coal” reference… then, during the pause, the train whistle blows and the team takes the field.
This is one I found & like. And it certainly fits our name. It’s “I want to be a gold miner” by Ambervision-Not easy to find, but go to itunes, type in album name Fissures, then when several albums with same name come up, click on one by Ambervision, it is song #8 on album. Great drums that could build anticipation before team comes running onto field.
Ckroush, those are some sick jams. I’m definitely going to be doin’ some downloadin’. I love Akkadian Empire… just not sure how anything titled Akkadian Empire fits football lol
I don’t want anything with lyrics. I don’t want anything that has been in the top 200 or gotten radio time. No Linkin Park, Drowning Pool, or any other lame overplayed cliche. I only want composed instrumentals. To me, an instrumental sounds like it’s written for that moment. A song from a well known artist is taking the cheap way out.
I picked my four favorites. What do you think?
I do like some of these. I also like the idea of a slow build up for 30-60 secs, then having a definitive point where this is when the players enter the field. All of these songs seem to have that.
Only minor thing based on your criteria, some of these songs do have lyrics. They just aren’t in English.
If you could clean up some of the beginning “do, do do do Doooo” and fix it up, M83. - Steve McQueen would be an awesome intro in kind of a South Carolina’s 2001 way
plus the lyrics at the beginning:
I woke up stronger than ever.
Driven by big waves of fire.
To run and yell all the way.
Nothing can hurt me today.
There’s a magic inside.
Just waiting to burst out.
The world is a goldmine.
That will melt tomorrow.
I don’t care if it has lyrics or not. I would like something people have maybe heard of before but not really a big deal. The most important thing is that it is timeless. VT has enter sandman - a popular song, in the top 10 for months, super popular video, popular band, BUT it works. It works - it works well. The most important thing is that it fits, not who the song is by not if it has lyrics and not if it has been popular.
The second most important thing is that we pick it and stick with it. Not the every season something new crap we do at basketball.
I still think that it should be Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria. That is one of the most badass intros of all time. I want to see Norm come out, holding the mining pick high, slam it into the field and then push down a big dynamite lever causing gold fireworks to shoot high up in the air and explode just as the drums hit and the song gets heavy.
Here is one that came to me… A lot of you know I am a Sunny Ledfurd fan - he is from Belmont. When I went to get a video I found out it’s a intro song for brock lesnar in UFC too (I dont watch UFC seems too fake to me I just watch WWE
Anyway, I liked this because it’s from a guy that is from here, it’s a little country and redneck which I kind of like because I think it fits the Miner image. Not sure which part I like the most for this, just seems to have potential. Probably could loop a part of it to build. I just love the lyrics - I can see an old grizzled miner walking through hail and wind to get to where he wants to be f’n up anyone who messes with him.
This is not an intro song, but something every single player should watch. And something everyone on this board should see. Great video, great speech. Forget the shirt the guy is wearing.
From about 1:03 on. Everyone uses Zombie Nation and Sandstorm but I don’t know a single college that uses this Scooter classic. It’s virtually made for stadiums.
Steaua Bucharest fans used it sort of as an unofficial anthem for a while and it would sound amazing inside the stadium and on TV. This is sort of a rough fan video but you get the idea http://youtu.be/TeIK9Ow_DC4
