Former UNC System Presidents Decry Football

Good job on the letter Drummer

that'll make him pissy, take it from the master

:lmao:We still haven’t seen that “alleged” email response you got back:tongue:

If playing on Sundays is such a sin, are Spangler & Friday going to start protesting the Panthers?
Vote Foley for Pres.!
There is Sunday College Football. It is a whopping 3-4 games among 119 1-AA teams, not including Sunday Bowls, during a 14-16 week season. Wow, what a problem.

Am I missing something with the Sunday comment, College football is still played on Saturdays right?? They were really streching…

Another thing, I bet Dr. Phil took the day off today knowing he was going to get tons of emails after our buddies talked yesterday.

Just listened to the audio... Obviously they don't get it because they say we get a fair amount of mony over a 5 year period and said to look at our campus and you can tell we get what is fair. Will someone share with this man how much of what is on campus was built by student fees and money raised by the school rather than given by the state.... You are uninformed and wearing blinders Dr. Spangler. Please return to your Mecca and keep your thoughts to yourself, because you don't get it.

You want to hear fair? When they recently remodeled McEniry, they installed a sprinkler system, but DIDN’T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO ACTUALLY HOOK IT UP. If you go into McEniry, you see the sprinkler heads in the ceiling, but THEY DON’T WORK!!!

How is that fair? The system won’t give UNC Charlotte enough money for working sprinklers, but they will give Chapel Hill $100 million for a science lab building! Incredible!

Fair, how is that even legal?

The building met code when it was originally built. Apparently, renovations don’t have to meet all of the current building codes since they weren’t working on those parts, blah, blah, blah. That all came from a professor who works and teaches in the building.

you also gotta love Spangler's comment about faculty and football: http://mitathletics.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mit-m-footbl-body.html

:lmao:

I really wish someone would have said something to the effect of “MIT does have football” during the talk, just to piss him off.

Gypsum is radioactive!
Spangler & all gypsum sellers hate America!

Maybe Spangler should worry about the environment that National Gypsum is leaving young minds that want to be educated instead of worrying about our football.

nice find SCK

I’m sorry but when I hear the opinions of these two it makes me think of the worst of the worst of the ol’ boy system. Two oblivious old men who probably still think it is 1950, probably call women “Gals” and most definately think that all “real” universities in NC radiate 50 miles from Raleigh. I grew up in raleigh and throughout my life encountered many people like this, old backwards idiots who resist change, your retired, no one cares about you any more professionally, or at least they shouldn’t, so shut up and fade away!

Here is what I see in my mind:

“The foosballs is evil, we play it on sunday and a team that is not in either red or baby blue could not waste school and state funds as properly by producing such a crappy product. Now time to buy some more dapper dan and horn-rimed glasses, good god is this wall made out of gypsum? I’m gonna call the legislatas!”

it would make my year if CD Spangler were busted in the Charlotte South Park Maddam stuff.

Can we bribe the South Park Madam to put him on the list? LOL.
The Good Doctor got my e-mail this morning… for whatever good it will do. By request, here it is…I couldn’t get every last thought in there, as that would have made it a three page article instead of an e-mail, but I figure at least I’ve done my part here.
Excellent job. You will go far in life, 49erDrummer.

CHP needs to let some steam off that bald onion, metro. I still say it’s time to release the email here.

Release the hounds!!!

Sorry about the late follow-up, guys … I’ve been under the hood of my truck all evening (pulling the top end of the engine off to replace the Intake Manifold Gasket…fun fun.).

Got a response from Dr. Phil.

Not quite sure how I feel about it…but suffice to say… Metro, you were pretty much spot on (not that I thought any different) about what would inadvertently push his buttons.

Please share…

Eh… that’s just not one of those things I really wanna air.

I’ve got no problem sharing it, but I’d rather do it over PM if you wanna see the whole thing.

Essentially, he excused himself from sticking up for us at the meeting by saying that it was best not to argue with Friday and Spangler in that situation, and that it was futile. He polished that off by saying that “we both knew” what UNC Charlotte is and can become.

But on that note, the tone changed a little bit. He proceeded to explain that he puts in over 90 hours a week for the University "in a ‘light week’ … " and in a roundabout way insinuated that I was out of line for requesting that he stand up and show is allegiance.

I also recieved a response, however it was probably one of the best responses I got from him ever.

Basically he was frustrated as well, felt it would have been inappropriate to show his frustrations. Basically aluded to the fact that UNC Charlotte came out on top in the end anyways.
