Back in the day in our section, we would count the dribbles that the shooter is taking before his free throw, then the obligatory āOooooohhhhhhhā when theyāre taking the shot. It seemed to work more often than not as it got into their head during their routine. Itās easy for a group to do together. Somebody shouts ācount 'em!ā and everyone knows what to do.
How about chanting:
Hey batter, batter, batter, batterā¦SWING!!!

That one sounds like it would work.

I like it.
Can we suggest the foul shooters watch gay asian porn or is that an ejectable offense?
I know this idea takes more work, but I think it keeps things more unbalanced.
The point is mix 3-4 different ideas throughout the game.
The 1st time the dots are shown, they catch someone off guardā¦but the 2nd/3rd/4th timeā¦they know what to expect.
I like the counting idea, but why not count dribbles on some FTās, use the dots on FTās, maybe once and a while ādo nothingā.

Our pep band shows up for every game without failā¦ In our directors 6 or 7 years being here we have never had a game (menās or womenās) that did not have a functioning bandā¦ [/QUOTE]
Please realize Iām old & forgetfulā¦so if Iām wrongā¦Iām wrong, Iāll accept that.
When Temple was here a couple of Decemberās ago on Ice Storm night, I seem to remember there were some band availability issues. Was the regular director not at the game OR did we not have a band at all that night?
Not trying to start a fight, just trying to keep the facts accurate.
I remember that gameā¦we had a pretty skimpy band lol. A band nonethelessā¦but not one of usual size, no. The director lives in Clover, SC (down by Lake Wylie) and he was pretty much iced in and couldnāt make the drive up to Charlotte. So, a few of us that lived on campus at the time and any of us that had transportation (4wd, etc) made the rounds calling and picking up whoever we could.
But yeahā¦that was probably the worst band turnout I can remember since Iāve been involved. And honestlyā¦on the issue of energy and dedication from the bandā¦I wonāt lie about it. Iād say it would be a lot harder to get THAT much out of many of the band members now. During that ice storm, our director even gave us the option (the only time he ever has) of not having a band that gameā¦but we took it on ourselves to put one together anyway. Thatās the kind of dedication Iād like to see from EVERYONEā¦fans, band, alumni, you-name-it. But I also understand that it will take a lot more than just wishing and hoping for that to ever happen. Stillā¦to the people that do show up every gameā¦not just the band, but the student section and others as wellā¦I have to say thank you. Personally, I bleed niner green (or at least I like to think so)ā¦and even I myself could do better at times. Still, itās good to see those same faces in the student section that you can always count on showing up. Too bad everyone canāt get on that bandwagon. But I guess it starts with the handful that wish to take the initiative, huh?

Anywayā¦GO NINERS!
