Too bad we couldnāt be placed in CUSA West. As of 10/16 they are a combined 15-21. The East sits at 24-20. I imagine UAB will move to the west next season. Of course teams will be a little different next season but it gives a general picture that for now the East will be a little tougher side.
CUSA West has better attendance numbers, but Iād rather be in the east for both geography and for more competitive football.
It is a shame that ECU left. CUSA east with ECU and maybe not FIU, would be an extremely tough division (a stronger conference inside a weaker one).

Thanks. The cancellation has been discussed a few times on this board but I donāt think we had seen any official notice.

Itās cancelledā¦ The guarantee for a FCS team is much less than a FBS team. If weāre going to travel to a top 50 FBS programs we should get paid appropriately.

Iāve never understood that. Wouldnāt a school want to pay more to destroy an fcs school than to pay more for an FBS to maybe beat them?

VT was willing to pay this$$ amount when we were FCS. Now weāre FBS we went back and said, you need to up it to this$$ amount. They said āno thanks, we can find another FCS school whoāll play us for this$$ original amount.ā
I guess fcs teams are willing to get less example fcs coach: " oh youāre thinking of paying Charlotte 750,000? We will play you for 500,000!"ā¦but if I am an fcs coach Iād use they leverage that hey you can play that fbs school for 700K and maybe you win or maybe you donāt. Or you could play us for 800K and guarantee yourself a win. Thatāll come in handy if you end up 6-6
Also they can only schedule (1) FCS team a year, and have to fill the rest of the non-conference slots with FBS teams. That gets supply and demand going in favor of the FBS teams taking money games.
Updated original post based on the 2016 Louisville game. We were initially supposed to host Eastern Michigan that day. I assume that has been moved or cancelled.
Could have sworn the UL article mentioned that we were moving that date of that game.
Eastern Michigan moved to September 17th. Unlike 2015, we will play four straight non-conference games to start the season.
http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/12/05/5364527/charlotte-49ers-to-open-2016-football.html
Article also mentions that Georgia State game is subject to change due to a possible preseason Falcons conflict. Thatās the final week of the preseason and basically every single game is played that Thursday night. Probably a 50% chance the game will be moved. Just depends if the Falcons are home or away.

Switch the home-and-homes and keep the date for TV. SOLVED!
Marshall @ Charlotte in '15ā¦ will be a great game.

Will have to be Friday night then, since Auburn/Louisville will play there Saturday night.

I would prefer the game moved to Friday that way I might be able to attend
Iāve added Marshall at home and ODU on the road to the 2015 schedule.
ODUās beat writer says we will go there next year. Note that the article was written before UAB dropped football.

Darn, I had a whole post typed up based on the open dates based on how they used to do their schedules before the SEC expanded and Missouri was added to the east. Looks like they do it a little different now. UF game has been pushed back a couple weeks, etc. Hereās their 2014 schedule. Weād most likely slot in for that weekend they played Ark State, or the weekend they played UT-Chat. The SEC portion of their schedule is usually the same from year to year.
