George Mason Basketball - Because mid major fans are people too.

:))

The Mason Bench is one of the best fan blogs on the web and is definitely better than this one.

I didn’t say it wasn’t a nice site…

Here is another Mason blog… http://midmajorbasketball.com/content/charleston-classic-outlook
In the third annual Charleston Classic tournament, there is a good mix of mid major teams; 5 out of
the 8 teams in the tournament. We have UNC-Charlotte from the Atlantic 10, Coastal Carolina from the Big South, George Mason from the Colonial, USC-Upstate from the Atlantic Sun, and Wofford from
the Southern Conference. Throw in East Carolina from Conference USA, NC State from the ACC, and Georgetown from the Big East, and you have a very solid tournament. Below is how I rank the mid majors in the tournament and how I think they will fair in their matchups.
HAHA… So Charlotte is Mid Major but EZU is not??

Wow, both of those are pathetic.

losing to Gardner Webb doesnt help perception- even missing players

Sure doesn’t. Especially at home. There are some teams you lose to and no excuse matters in a court of public appeal. Unless, of course, we do something with the rest of the season. We know what hamstrung us that game, we just need to not have to make anymore excuses the rest of the season.

I just don’t buy that GM/Char is the 2nd worst team in the tournament.

I’ll give you Wofford since they almost beat Wisconsin? in the tournament last year, but Coastal? No.

GTG.net doesn’t tell me why I should buy y’all a beer. :))

Why don’t we ever go to Italy or someplace cool? The one year we had a pre-season was 2 years ago, in Canada. Boring.

A10 is not mid major…just an fyi

Donate more $. If you’re too cheap to buy me a beer, you’re too cheap for the team to go to Italy.

It was a joke.
And I didn’t say I would NOT buy you a beer, I said to give me a reason. (And your attitude just put you behind the other GTG people.) :))

FREE BEER!!! Stonecold’s buying!!

Sorry guys, not being controversial or sarcastic, but we are not a mid major, but we are a ?

Non bcs football playing major ? Like St Johns, Marquette, Xavier… outside some of the catholic schools whom else is like us ?

I think we’ve very much fallen back to mid-major status. We haven’t made the tournament in 5 years and we haven’t made it past the first round in the tournament in 9! We’ve only made it past the first round a few times and only made it past the first weekend once.

As much as I’d love to not think of us as a mid major, that’s what we are. I feel we have greater potential than most mid-majors to make the jump, but we’re not there yet.

NN, I think that puts us squarely in the mid category.

The more I think about the major/mid-major/whatever debate, the more I think…

…who the hell cares?

I think… we should make it to March and win. Whatever they want to call us is irrelevant. Winning is everything.

ESPN the Mag’s college basketball preview has polls of players in the 6 ā€˜power’ conferences and then has a mid major section. There are like 5 mid-major teams listed above…Xavier.

The so-called ā€œPower Conferencesā€ are the ones that have pushed the term ā€œmid-majorā€, as well as the inaccurate concept that all ā€œNon Power Conferenceā€ schools are mid-major. The term mid-major is not that old.

The only thing I care anyone calls the Niners is ā€˜Winner’ -> Just win.
