I can assure you that even with a protest there is still no way that Judy retires. Sheâs here for as long as she wants to be here. She will only retire when we all believe that sheâll never retire so she can try to prove for the last time that sheâs smarter than all of us internetters.
Most accurate thing written at NNN in a while.
Guess what though? She has to live (and take to the grave) her legacy of being one of the worst ADs ever, and unequivocally destroying a consistent top 60 menâs basketball program into nuclear winter.
Frankly, I canât think of any team in NCAA history to fall like we have so fast.
DePaul comes to mind.
Yeah, Depaulâs collapse was worse. Depaul had a lot more success than the Niners and then fell lower than we did prior to this year (given they were in the BE). Thatâs the worst program collapse I can think of. Wainwright absolutely murdered that program. Theyâre lucky the Big East schools cared about including catholic schools.
La Salle also kind of mirrored the Niners, only they did everything one to two decades earlier, with the exception that they won it all in the 50âs.
But thatâs about all I can think of, the total collapse of Niners basketball is definitely a sad thing. Iâd argue itâs not been quick though, itâs been a long, slow, and steady decline ever since the early 2000âs.
96 was year Halton opened. Games split at other venues
Poor year on the court and the last season playing off campus (at the Big I/ Original Coliseum).
clt says haltron needs seat cushions.
I havenât been in Halton since 2010 but I imagine it needs an upgrade? Took son to bday party at UR RobBinâs Center last night. It was Star Wars night. Costumed figures walking around the concourse, players images digitized as Star Wars characters during introductions, Kids Fan Zone on concourse with basketball goals, video games, etc. Kids allowed to line up ON THE COURT and high five players before the start of the game. Also, the Robbins Center has been completely renovated with 12 suites in the corners up top and an excellent sound system. Overall, great experience for a kid to become a fan. Halton needs these types of things.
The Robbins Center is really nice now. They did a fantastic job with the upgrades, there. Really cashed in on their recent success.
Whoa whoa whoa - that kind of thing takes effort and creativity. Who do you think we are???
Halton is a tired and bad design. The retractable bleachers, track, giant block walls, upper deck too far from game.
Swiss Army knife and basketball arena is a bad combo, but necessary for student fees

Been saying this since Halton opened. The track in the middle of upper and lower levels is the worst design ever for an arena. Itâs an awful design and kills the atmosphere in Halton. Why they didnât design the track on the outside of the arena or underneath the upper level is beyond me.
I like Halton. Itâs not the design or the track that kills the atmosphere, itâs the losing to the Campbells of the world.
Iâve been in Halton many times when the atmosphere was, dare I say, electric.
Seems because of all the losing and desparation people are going to complain about everything. Guess itâs to be expected.

THIS. Nobody complained about this petty shit when we were kicking the asses of the loservilles, memphllises, and sincys of the world. Winning soothes and solves everything.

Agree that the design doesnât really kill the atmosphere, but halton definitely is showing itâs age. It needs upgrades. Functional upgrades and aesthetic. Recruits reference facilities all the time during the recruiting process. Looks matter.
Overall though, itâs a great place to watch a game.

With the recent remodel of Belk Gym and the new Health and Wellness Center to be built in a couple of years, plus the new Convocation Center thatâs in the plans, I wonder if those facilities would make Haltonâs multi-use purpose redundant. Maybe more focus could be placed on making it a full basketball entertainment venue in a future renovation since it wouldnât need the track or retractable bleachers, etc.?

Back around 2000, David Poole was on the Pac Man show one evening following one of our big wins over Cinci. He complained about the popcorn in Halton, claiming he would never step in Halton again because the popcorn was no good. We had just beaten a top 5 team and he was telling listeners not to go there because of bad popcorn.
BTW⌠I agree with Hootie, and no, I am NOT complaining about the popcorn.

They could even remove some of the seating on the (former) student side to put in a few suites I suppose. If WKU and ODU can support suites, surely we can sell a few too?
Iâd like to see some big video boards on the corner walls that are currently just blank. I would think those would be revenue generators since they could be used for ad space, but maybe not since I doubt weâre a very attractive advertising avenue these days.
New video board is a must. Ours is like 10 years old at this point with small screens that arenât HD.
Making Halton completely modern / not multi-use would cost tens of millions, so I somewhat doubt itâll happen any time soon.

UR has the 4 huge video boards in each corner with 3 suites above each video board. It really looks nice. However, above center court is no video board, just a contraption holding lots of speakers. The sound quality was nice though.
