High School Football

Polston, a 14-year-old freshman, will be the first starting quarterback at Ballantyne Ridge, the new high school that kicks off its inaugural football season Friday night.

14 year old varsity starting QB. 14.

As I said in another thread, it’s gonna be a long season for them. Their Varsity soccer team got drilled by a 1A school.

What do the 11 states have in common?

Nothing that I can tell. Actually, trying to find an up-to-date list of those states is proving problematic. Ironically, On3 lists a dozen on their website:

• AL
• HI
• IN
• MI
• MT
• NC
• OH
• SC
• TX
• WI
• WV
• WY

I don’t understand why a TN person would sue NC over high school NIL. Would she have any standing in NC?

Probably since she and her son Frazier Brandon live in Greensboro and he is enrolled at Grimsley HS in the Gate City.

BTW, Brandon is a Tennessee Vol commit. And, yes, we offered:

He isn’t going to make enough at Vols U? Saints preserve us!

Yep, I’m all of us would turn down two years of cashing in on an NIL valuation that currently stands at $567K. :money_mouth_face:

Anyway, won’t be surprised to see him end up at a private before all is said and done if there is no change in NC law.

clt says the vols are already paying him

Well, there’s always the possibility something is happening under the table, especially if it involves an SEC school. Legally can’t cash in on a college collective etc until enrolled, which for Brandon will be sometime in 2026.

I would take the money, especially if I were his age. Still does not mean its not ridiculous.

Reminded that the NCHSAA had approved NIL for public high school athletes but that a mostly politically motivated intervention reversed that:
