Hofstra Predictions

I know it’s a little less than a week away, but what are everyone’s predictions for Hofstra? Do we play as well on the road as we have at home? Final score? What about Gerrity? Does he get the start over Harris? Will Leemire keep the headband? Discuss.

I havent seen them play, so no opinion.

Thought this might help though: Pomeroy - Hofstra. They are 1-4, having lost on the road to an apparently solid Holy Cross team, under-performing Fordham, and at home in OT to UNCW.

As NLP pointed out, they have G Agudio back. He dropped 22 on us in the game we won to start last year. Stokes and a couple of other guys are gone.

By looking at their past games, it seems feasible for us to win, albeit it being our first true road game. They’re 1-1 at home and neither was a decisive win or loss. They seem too tough to peg down at the moment after losing a number of people last year.

I’d like to think if we could beat them at home with last year’s team, we could beat them there with this year’s team.

Their scouting report on the link provided by NA doesn’t provide any details of how horrible they are. They don’t excel at much, and there a few things they’re just not very good at. Seems like a run of the mill team who has been on the wrong side of close scores. We need to not overlook them.

Honestly, with Gerrity, the first two games he’s back being road games I may work him in situationally, depending on leads, or others current play. If Harris’ is doing well don’t mess with it, especially on the road. At home I think Lutz can take a bigger chance with this as their may be some comfort their for Gerrity, with the fans behind him. Then again he is a transfer and has played at a high level so he may be able to handle it.

guys. gerrity transfered to start here. he averaged 14 points as a freshman, scoring 20 against uconn in his first game. we have a walk-on starting at PG. i love dijuan harris, he’s been awesome. but gerrity transferred first semester last year and he’s been with the team and practicing with the team longer than harris. they know who he is and he knows how to play with this team. idk if he’ll start the first few games…i do think he’ll start G-W…but sheesh. he’s not going to be ā€˜slowly worked in.’ he’s been worked in for a year now…he’s been here longer than most of the starters.

I feel comfortable with Gerrity at the point. The point guard is the leader on the floor. Hs and Lee have played D1 ball on opposing courts. And Gerrity has practiced with the team for a year. I think the first half will be a little shaky, but I expect to see the Niners show their hand the second half of the Hofstra game. Coming off of Tulsa we will know what kind of potential we have through March. And I like how this team continues to identify problems and correct them (case in point: FT’s). Go Niners!!!

It’s great that we have two point guards to compliment one another and if anything we always have fresh legs on the floor. Lee would be free to bomb away.

they have like 2500 fans a game, semester will be over most likely, i don’t think we have to worry about the ā€œtrue road gameā€ aspect.

Are they better than Monmouth? If not, we probably win.

The game is on the road so I don’t know what to expect. Hofstra sucks so we SHOULD win this game.

I grew up about 10 minutes away from Hofstra and attended some of their games (back when they had speedy claxton). 2,500 attendence seems about right, their gym is more like a high school gym. I’m curious about the Gerrity situation and what he brings to the table. As far as a prediction, I’ll say Charlotte 68 Hofstra 60.

Well, I feel like we’re going up there and just keep up what we’ve been doing. Draining our shots and leting the defense shut them down.

I keep saying the Niners will lose, and they keep winning. So…

Hofstra in a squeeker. Niners lose by a bucket.

I’ll say Niners by a dozen - 74-62. Gerrity dishes out 7 assists and Leemire scores 24 points on six threes.

if leemire continues his 27.5 ppg game he’s on track to knock curtis withers out of 7th place all time scoring.

He’s averaging 20.9.

That's about what Aguido is scoring for Hofstra. We were talking about it in the shoutbox last night. Might have been that.

One of the observer report I believe, saying something like Lee averaging 27.5 for the last 2 or 3 games.

thanks i knew i wasn’t seeing things.

I believe our chances are pretty good in spite of this:

Hofstra (1-4) will look to get back on the winning track on its home court, where it has compiled a 31-2 regular season record in the last four years. The Pride also has not lost a home game to a non-conference opponent since the 2003-04 season...
