How long we do accept this???

I say no more. This has to end. We aren’t getting any better with this staff.

ODU, App St???

They used to be warm-ups for Gods sake!!!

We have regressed and are going down. Please, make me feel better and support the current paradigm (that’s for you NA)

I was talking to a friend of mine before the game and he said in his opinion Benny Moss would be a much better coach for Charlotte. I don’t think the chances of that happening are good, especially with Lutz and his new deal, and with the rumor that Moxley would take over after Lutz.

We had our chance to move on and Judy & Co. bluffed. Bobby “earned” an extension last year and now the program will pay for it.

I like Bobby as a coach, but don’t love him as a coach, we have seen what he can do and that is the 2nd round at best. I thought it was time to move on in 2007 with the whole USA situation, but it didn’t happen.

I have nothing to say.

It doesn’t feel like ranting and raving will help.

It doesn’t feel like searching for positives will help.

I really don’t know what to make of this team and I can’t make much sense of these 1st 3 games.

Frankly, if you wanted Lutz gone, last year was that time. He’s sign an extension and he’ll be here for atleast the next 2 years if not more. He’s not going to get fired the year after he signed the extension. I was hesistant to give him the extension untill the A-10 tournament run and then I jumped on, seeing us play this year makes me unsure if it was the right thing to do or not.

It sucks and its unfortunate, frankly if we fail to make the NCAA’s again this year, I will have a hard time accepting that again. I couldn’t have survived the 1980’s around here. Getting to the NCAA is how a program is measured and to get there you have to take care of business against the teams you “should” beat. If we had beaten Monmoth, Hofstra, Richmond last year, I think we would have made the tournament in March. We’ve now lost two games against teams we should beat. Maybe we turn it around Saturday and run the table in Anaheim and beat Arizona State and Wake Forest.

Same here. This relationship had run its course as much as I like Lutz as a person. Unfortunately our demise will go on longer. Never say never on this season, but right now it looks like 4 straight years out of the NCAA’s. That hurts.

I remember when we used to be good. And that hurts more.

Our best years from 98-2005 we always started like 5-5…that’s my ray of light.

Our last 5 games we are 1-4 against teams that are not ranked or even top 65…

My guess is now we win 5 in a row. Then lose 2

You’re right Metro. Those teams had some strange beginnings.

All I can say is we’ll see.

I realize that many of the consequences were outside of our control, but when I look where this program was on the morning of that game in Louisville during Basden’s senior year to where we are right now…I want to throw up…a lot.

February, 2005 was an amazing month to be a Niners fan. People actually came up to me on gamedays, on campus, wanting to buy my tickets. It is also the last time I saw the “Sold Out” used by the ticket office. Wonder if they still have that sign?

I don’t feel well.

I hope you are right. Lutz has got to get folks attention. 3 games into the season and we are in trouble. Not good. Not acceptable.

I have to disagree with you there. Let’s call a good year a year we went to the tourny.

2001 7-3
2002 5-5 (only time)
2004 7-3
2005 8-2

Couldn’t find the 1999 season and we didn’t go to the tourny in 2000. Let’s call a spade a spade, we aren’t good this year, just don’t have the horses.

My guess is now we win 5 in a row.
i'll give you 10:1 odds...

put down the flask… time for bed.

just don't have the horses.

We have enough players. Just many of them ride the short bus to school the way some of them have been playing.

Beat me to it, in years we didn’t make the tournament, we started off 5-5- in 2002-2003, 5-5, 2005-2006, 4-6 in 2006-2007. The one exception was last year, we started off 7-3. Recent history shows we haven’t over come bad starts to make the NCAA tournament.

I knew I wasn’t crazed…so many .500 non conf yrs they blend…

We gave 110% today…fundamentals seem like middle school.

We were 3-5 to start the 97-98 season. I remember it extremely well.

L 72-89 @Miami
L 60-66 @App (BTW we are now 0-3 @ Boone in the last decade)
W 72-48 ODU
W 88-70 VMI
W 70-55 Davidson
L 71-73 Boston U
L 83-93 GWashington
L 65-81 Western Michigan

That team finished 23-11, losing to #1 UNNCH in the 2nd round. We went 13-3 in conference that season. But, as I pointed out, those early losses landed us with a #32 RPI back when they used to divide your RPi by 4 to seed you and bam, we are playing #1 in the country and took them to OT. If we’d won any of those 5 games and we wouldn’t have played UNCCH, and I feel completely confident we would have beaten any other potential opponent, and maybe another one after that too.

We started the next season 3-2, losing to Kent and @ODU. I believe Kent featured future NFL star Antonio Gates at PF. That Niner team ended up having to win 4 games in 4 days to make the field, and we lost to Oklahoma and the flu in rd #2.

The difference is, the A10 will not pull us up. Everyone is losing this season. 2 bid league tops if this keeps up.

I am still trying to sort this all out in my head. On one hand, we lost a leader, and big time scorer in Leemire Goldwire. I remember reading an article saying something about him being missed more than us Niner fans care to admit…But on the other hand, we return pretty much EVERY player from last year, plus some new comers. I think what seperates last years team from this years is OWNERSHIP. I know there were games last year where Lee took, and sometimes forced shots. But at the end of the day, it was HIS team. Somebody needs to step and take the reigns and put this team on their back. Bottom line is you don’t make the NCAA’s by losing the games your supposed to win. We learned that the hard way last season.

As NA showed above, we have always started out like this, even under Melvin and Mullins. The difference was that we always had a conference to build our RPI back while in CUSA and even during the last of the Metro days. No so much any more. I think that’s why these losses sting more now, not that they did not sting then and not that they are to worse teams than we lost to then. I can’t tell you how letdown I felt after being ranked #17 to start the 96-97 season and starting out 1-2. The feeling is similar now, but the problem is that it may take 22 wins to get an at large berth instead of 18-19.
