Looking like a double whammy for Florida. Have neighbors who were planning on going to the Panhandle this week so that may get put on hold.

Expected to weaken some before landfall at last check, but still likely to have a massive storm surge. Hopefully it goes away from Tampa (though not great for whoever does get it head on) or weakens more than predicted, it sounds like developers were allowed to build in all kinds of low-lying areas in Tampa, despite years of warnings of high risk.
Agree Ken. Tampa missed out so much on the worst storms that complacency and the feeling of being immune set in. Unfortunately, that looks to change and if future models are correct change even more in the years to come.
My kids are teenagers but I can see a day where they will not be able to afford and / or even buy homeowners insurance.
