Lets get him while we can and no one trys to get him from us…BRING BACK BOBBY!!!:49ers:
I can promise you this… Coming off a losing season, and having only played 8 games, no one is beating down his door yet.
I’m not saying I want Bobby to leave, and I am TREMENDOUSLY happy with our success thus far, but its a very early season, and Bobby is not going to get snatched up by any huge programs right this moment.
I want to see road games. But I’ve always supported Bobby. As long as it’s before the next recruiting period.

doesn’t matter. we are losing out on recruits because bobby doesn’t have job security right now. the sooner we sign him to a long term deal the sooner we get commitments. i’d rather have security knowing that the future of our program isn’t in jeopardy. this isn’t about teams trying to lure him away. This is about us trying to maintain a good program.
“The future of the program” has WAY less to do with one year’s recruiting class than it does signing a head coach to another 5, 7, 9 whatever years. I’m not saying I want Bobby to go, I like the guy A LOT, but one year of recruiting, and losing out on one or two three star guys is not going to make or break the future of the program. Getting a coach in there who will win and WIN BIG for the next 5+ years is about the future of the program. And whether that is Bobby or not isn’t my call.
Just let the boys play and Bobby coach. The contract stuff will work itself out, without our input. Powers that be are watching the same games we are. Can we please quit begging for new coaching contracts after every game? Enjoy the big win

I wrote phil an email with my thoughts, that probably doesn't matter one bit to him, but I just wanted my feelings known.

I am actually enjoying this big win with a few cold ones before I start working on the exam paper tommorow…But I still like bobby for the next 3 4 or 5 years I am here
Not sure my parents would enjoy me here that long
but no matter what I will always be cheering like a student!!!
:49ers:
sign him up now.
naw we havent even gotten to the tourney? we havent even began conference play(and by the way, the play in our conference is sick right now) dont get me wrong im an optimist but we just need to keep our eyes on the tourney not lutz contract…
naw we havent even gotten to the tourney? we havent even began conference play(and by the way, the play in our conference is sick right now) dont get me wrong im an optimist but we just need to keep our eyes on the tourney not lutz contract...Some people have ridiculous expectations. Do you seriously expect Charlotte to be in the NCAA tournament every year?
If you think we’ll hire someone better than Lutz if he leaves then you’re sadly mistaken. If you want to blame someone for this program’s decline, look towards Judy Rose, not Bobby Lutz.
anyone who speaks of bobby not being resigned immediately is causing our program to be in jeopardy must not have seen the last two years of basketball, namely last years, here in Charlotte. The fact of the matter is that the powers at be are trying to decide if bobby being here is whats putting our program in jeopardy, which means if we resign him and he is the problem, we’re more screwed than if we let him go. Right now we are winning games, but we are VERY early into the season.
I support bobby - so I hope no one takes it as if I dont - I love seeing a coach who thanks his fans every single game and acknowledges the fact that we have a role in the game - but its still WAY to early to make a determination
Be careful what you wish for in a coach at Charlotte. Being a grad of '88, I have seen many ups and downs with our program. We are not one of the BCS conferences, but we are still a good program that can succeed. I think Bobby needed to make some adjustments in the way he coaches and his attitude over the past few years. He always seem to be looking at the next big job, and not what was in front of him currently. It seems he has made the changes, then the school should go ahead and get him signed wit an extension. Some people think the school should wait, but if he continues down the path he is on now and wins 20 games he will not be here next year either. You will see other schools take notice and get word back to him that they want to talk after the season about their job. Do not wait too long thinking something may change and he goes back to last year form. This is the real work and in business you see situations like this often that turns out going south if you are not careful.
We need to sign Lutz NOW.
Who doesn’t think he has done an amazing job eight games into the season against two teams that have been in the top 25 this year and an ACC team.
Attendance is way up and Bobby just seems to be having more fun this year.
There is much more of a buzz around the program this year than the last three.
We finally have a TEAM of players not just a bunch of individuals. Lee is a big reason for that, and he probably doesn’t get as much credit for his leadership as he deserves. But, who helped mold him into that leader…Bobby.
Sign the guy up. If he is not signed then Judy/Phil need a huge reality check.
Utter any news on this front?
Eason, yes most 9er fans I know DO expect our team to atleast MAKE the NCAA tourney every year! Let me guess, you weren’t around in the late 90s when we were doing this??
i think the guy has proved he can coach. he had a GREAT run in CUSA. the A-10 was an adjustment. a lot of us were depressed about it. I am sure Bobby was too. I am still not super high on the A-10. it has too many bottom feeders that pull down the league. hopefully that will change. I hope the Bruno replacement will move us in the right direction.
here is what i know. last years team stunk. we could have used another body or two and we might have been better. this year, he has a good group, a young group and he is making it work. Will we make the NCAAs this year? I am not sure. but the guy shows he can coach and has his intensity back.
Sign him now. he is a classy guy. he is well respected. he has given the program hope again. he is an alumni and cares about this school.

Yes.
Some people have ridiculous expectations. Do you seriously expect Charlotte to be in the NCAA tournament every year?
Yes. With the facilities we have and the conference we are in YES. This is a stupid question. We had a great run in the 90’s and there wasn’t a single person who followed the program that expected anything other then a NCAA appearance annually. Why do you think we are so hard on Bobby right now. We danced almost every year and now we watch the tourney on the couch.
If you don’t expect this from our program, then you are okay with a .500 team. Absolutely ridiculous question.
Yes, I expect to be in the NCAA Tourney every year, will accept NIT on odd years as consulation. A .500 team is not acceptable at Charlotte and with what Charlotte has to work with.
I think Bobby deligated a little to much over the past few years and even admitted that in a post game interview just the other night about Free Throws stating he hasn’t coached that for years but will start to now.
Fact is Bobby got a little to comfortable and the Admin is simply trying to shake this team up after last years terrible effort and the lack of Talent. Charlotte should have no problems being a top 2 or 3 team in A-10 every year. The first two years in A-10 were nothing close to that.
I think Bobby has done a great job this year in getting young Talent in and coaching them up. Just don’t know if it is to little to late, either way whoever is coaching next year will have a lot of talent!
Some people have ridiculous expectations. Do you seriously expect Charlotte to be in the NCAA tournament every year?I expect us to be in the tourney every year like I expect us to win every game. Of course we won't make it every year, every program has down times. I do expect us to be in contention every year, and the majority of those times easily in the tournament.
here is what i know. last years team stunk. we could have used another body or two and we might have been better.like Dewhurst, Wilderness, Phil Jones, Cameron Tatum. . . . .all were supposed to be playing last year. Something I even forget sometimes.
Charlotte should have no problems being a top 2 or 3 team in A-10 every year. The first two years in A-10 were nothing close to that.we finished 2nd in the a10 two years ago. if not for a lee elbow and an undefeated GW we may have won the conference
