If you could prevent 1 assassination....

I didn’t say that internal problems, the Pope, & Solidarity didn’t help, but the threat of Star Wars & other Reagan policies were the main issue.

Every liberal knows that Communism was the perfect gov't. & we shouldn't have won.

SOCIALISM is the economic term. Most governments in the world are democracies with socialist economies. Ours is socialist to a certain extent. Most true liberals would tell you that socialism is the best form of economic system because it looks out for everyone.

COMMUNISM is tyrrany, which is bad (imo). The USSR was a communist government with a socialist economic system. I don’t think you would find many liberals in this country that would agree that communism is a good form of government.

Socialism is NOT a good economic system. It’s a feel-good attempt to look out for everyone, but it fails because it lowers the standards of care, institutionalizes bureaucracy and mediocrity, and disincentivizes creativity and entrepreneurism. It is a pipe dream.

Back to the original question: Probably JFK. He was more conservative than today’s liberals want to admit, and LBJ created far more problems than he solved.

john lennon

RFK hands down. That guy would have done wonders for this country. It truly was a shame that he was killed.

It would have to be Lincoln for me. Such a great leader and someone that I look up to in polictics after reading and learning about him.
You do realize he completely ignored the constitution during this time, right? I mean I'm very happy that I'm a part of the whole US instead of the CSA, but as a person who believes in the constitution whole heartidly, it really bugs me that he did that. As a politician, I would say he was bad soley because of his disregard for our constitution.

BobandEd…or does that count as 2

Tupac

Tupac

He wasn’t assasinated… he plain just got shot.

I wish I could have been on the field to pick up the block that the left guard missed that allowed Bonnie Cone’s grandson to get blindsided as he went back to pass. we all know the ramifications of that fateful day . . . . .

I see your point but times were EXTREMELLY different back then. Of course today that would never happen but also a Civil War was going on. I am a big fan of Lincoln through his wisdom and his compassion, he was a rarity in politics, he was a “person” which is hard to find any of in today’s politics.

You have been reading the wrong books my friend.

Wikipedia defines it as:

Assassination is the murder of an individual; usually a political or famous figure. An added distinction between assassination and other forms of killing is that an assassin usually has an ideological or political motivation
Tupac was murdered and he was famous, and more or less over an ideological motivation. I think it applies.

I’d probably go with Lincoln even though he did go to war with the South and played around with the Constitution, etc. If he’d had of lived, I don’t think Reconstruction would have been nearly as terrible.

49erBust, I totally agree with you. I think RFK was on to something, it’s a shame. I think today’s world would have been totally different compared to today’s. This is what I love about you guys; yall always have good topics and polls that challenge. Good question casstommy even if you did steal it.

John Brown.

Just kidding. RFK.

A lot of good options but it’s MLK for me. A true hero and role model. Stood up for what was right but always remained peaceful.

Princess Diana. Yes she was assasinated and not ‘accidental’

my own.
