Thanks Eric, thanks for posting that link too, great inspiration. If somebody with the power reads this, please move our conversation to a new thread or something, we have gone horriblely off topic, sorry Jimmy.
The school was against the Niner Nation shirts being sold on campus, but those were for straight profit (well, getting their money back first, then profit. And the greater cause of uniting students of course). Not sure if they will allow us to sell under the flag of a football fund. That frat had a legit cause (not that ours wouldn't be legit, but as of now it is a non-existing fund with exactly $0.00 real dollars in it).We will have to be careful. The design might not be allowed to have 49ers written on it, and almost certainlly will not be able to have the athletic logo. Please keep that in mind if you are taking a stab at designing something for this.
Anybody with any clue where to start talking to somebody about restrictions on this, please let me know.
About a year ago my group (CRU) got permission to use the 49ers logos and such for shirts. Iâm pretty sure you just contact the Athletic Dept. (You probably need to do this under a group name). The only problem is that this is for profit. The only way to curb this is if the fund is set up and run through the Athletic Dept., meaning they get all the profits (but would go into a football fund). From what I know the school doesnât like alterations to the current logo. Anyway I hope this helps.

It does help very much, thank you.

Heck, we could funnel this money directly to the Athletic FoundationâŚthatâs our goal in the end. Weâll write a check to Judy and let her know what itâs for.
Where are the numbers at now? And what is a reasonable goal for Initial Investment, Yearly Donations, and Seats Pre-Sold? UNCC Greek Alumni would prob have a field day with this pledge drive.
I havenât seen anyone make note of it, I am a huge Clemson Football fan as well, but is anyone that is actively posting, an IPTAY member. If you dont know, IPTAY is their booster program and it is quite successfull. It would be interesting to measure whether we could model a football booster program after another universityâs booster program. IPTAY I think stands for âI Pay a Thousand A Yearâ.
Bump

Lambda Chi, can you get the word to your people, and see what help they can offer?
I donât know what a reasonable initial investment is, or the numbers, but I think that is one of the first things we need to figure out after getting this campaign off the ground.

What we need is commitment. Commitment to donate money, commitment to buy season tickets and commitment for students to enthusiastically attend games.
Let all the greeks know what we are try to do and get them to sign up. We need as many names as possible. Realistically current students can help us alot right now financially, but you will be able to 5 to 10 years down the road and that what we are trying to show the administration. We need to show them the support is there, now and in the future.
So please direct everyone you know to: charlotte49erfootball@yahoo.com or jimmyhat32@yahoo.com and get them to tell me the following:
- Who you are and how I can reach you?
- How much you would contribute to the start up of football (Keeping in mind you will need to actually come up with this money in 3 to 5 years)?
- How much would you contribure yearly(above and beyond, what you already give.)?
- How many season tickets would you buy??
This is a bump for Lambda Chi
Why donât you sell PSLs? Thatâd prove there was financial support, ticket support and interest in football. Would you pay $3,000 up front for access to a prime seat?
I personally like that idea Mike, but the 49er Club would control the priority point system to rank members and seating assignments.

This is a good idea!
This is a good idea!
How do you make this happen? I guess you would have to get the school to accept money towards the football program before it existsâŚis that right?

That is essentially what we are doing by asking for how much you would intially donate and if you would buy season tickets. Naturally someone who donates $10,000 initially will have access to better seats than someone who gives $500.
But I like that your thinking about it Mike and Iâm sure a PSL type scenerio will be incorporated down the road, especially with the constuction of the on campus facility.

I would guess that if you went to the 49er club with 5,000 pledges for individual tickets at $3,000 each worth $15 million, they would find a way to give those folks some priority and still seat big donors well in a $20K or so facility. The question is how many pledges could you get?
With Panthers PSLs, one or both of the big banks back in the day was giving loans toward the PSLs. Maybe you go lower on the cost, or some tiers of cost.
Itâs all about the money. Well, that and Title IX.

PSLâs suck. No offense to you, but making people buy something to have the opportunity to buy something else is a rip-off. Thatâs like an admission fee to get into a mall. Iâm fine with the seating of fans by how much money they give, but forcing someone to buy something in order to be able to purchase a ticket is wrong. I hope that whenever we add football we wonât resort to that to get things started.
A lot of us with longtime girlfriends or wives are pretty much used to that concept.
Beggars canât be choosers hombre.

None taken. I just donât think it will ever happen if alumni donât figure out a way to have money in hand when they ask. All the noise in the world will make no difference without funding in place for a BIG chunk of the startup. Got another idea for how to get that big chunk? Mine was just one suggestion ⌠that happens to have worked in Charlotte. Donât think of it as a PSL if you donât want to. Think of it as a targeted donation that earns you 49er club points.
Heâs right. Thereâs basically no difference. That money would bascially need to be handed to them from the alumni one way or the other. At the very least a PSL gives you rights your the same seat each year.
