****ing Tar Holes

i’ll admit, that was my mindset earlier in the evening.

but what good does it do? who is the most likely to become a fan of charlotte that isnt already?
a charlotte student is a lot easier to convert than a transplant businessman who moves to charlotte for his job. we need both, but lets start with the students. cool down, lewis, and come back when we’ve got some solutions. sitting here and anonymously bitching on a message board is exactly what davidson describes: pathetic. if you want change, you have to take action.

Yes. Circle beatings of every student on campus with Heels stuff.

I don’t want them to convert, I want them to get the **** off of our campus.

I like it

humiliate them all

Our 22,000 student body should be freaking ashamed of themselves. We were the away fans tonight and it wasn’t even close.

give them the benefit of the doubt.

if we had something to f*cking cheer about we would have been much louder.

Hell yea, maybe a club can be started on campus dedicated to terminating those who wear tar hole gear on campus.

I didn't think it was that bad to be honest. We are close to Chapel Hill, we live in a major location for Hole alumni, we don't have near as many alumni, and most of our school has no sense of itself. I think it was about 50-50 total, and quite overwhelmingly for us in the stands also. That's not all that bad.

I've been totally down with this idea for a long time, but I don't think it'll work. You gotta be kind to these people. If you persecute them, it will only embolden them. You must show them the light through reasoning or they will never go away. Problem is if someone's logic doesn't work well enough that they understand the principle of rooting for the school they actually go to, then reasoning to show them why it is foolish to root for another school may be too complex for them.

I had to work tonight, but I had 2 experiences which basically gave me a summary of what it would’ve been like to be there.

 1. A very nice man in his late 40s in a Chapel Hill hat (with his son in a UNC-CH baseball hat) asked for directions to the stadium. He was polite and his kid was adorable.

 2. A friend of mine that works with me came by after the game with her friend. Her friend was wearing a UNC-CH shirt. I asked her why and she said “All my Charlotte stuff was dirty and I figured it was better to wear this than just a normal shirt that had nothing to do with the game.” The co-worker friend of mine clearly thought it was as crazy an idea as I did, but that’s just one of the 5 thousand different justifications people have for wearing UNC-CH crap on our campus.

Worst excuse I’ve ever heard. I would rather wear a Charlotte shirt with Cow Sh*t on it than wear a CH shirt PERIOD, much less to a freaking CHARLOTTE-CH game.

Crap like this makes my blood boil…

What’s the justification for her owning it?
so instead, lets talk about some realistic, actual solutions to the problem.

suggestions?
Is this a new challenge for KissMeKait?

I think there has to be some thing at SOAR done to make them not even bring it.

What's the justification for her owning it?

Pure evil is my best guess.

its not the "wal-mart" fans that i hate, because believe me, if we went on a couple NCAA runs we'd have them too and shut the **** up if you want to say that you wouldn't welcome them with open arms. because you would.

its not these folks, oh no.

its the charlotte students wearing UNC gear.

lets not bash them though. really. what good does that do? they dont give enough of a **** to read this message board anyways.
instead, lets be pro-active in trying to convert them to niners fans. acting like a douche to them isnt going to make them come to more charlotte games (when we arent playing the holes, like basketball) and its certainly not going to make them change their minds. so instead, lets talk about some realistic, actual solutions to the problem.

suggestions?

Firm believer in this.

Present the evidence. If they dont convert - they at least (generally) respect you enough to shut up, and if you’re lucky (like I have been before) they will choose not to ever wear UNCCH gear to basketball games, or anywhere they know that they will be remotely near you.

generally they convert after about solid evidence object number 3.

Is this a new challenge for KissMeKait?

i’ll try my best!

My fiance helps head some of the SOAR dept…Ill get on that. I know the whole staff…they are always open for new ideas for school spirit. Give me some ideas of what you think they could do. Realistically speaking from a financial standpoint and a PR standpoint and Ill be sure to have a sit down with the head lady.

Cha - any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

i have always been all for starting it at soar. needs to be a special event all about it. real blunt. dive into all things charlotte or be left behind. i’m for the return of the bon-fire. education is what we are about right? lets educate the little kiddies coming in on why charlotte should be the ONLY school they cheer for. what it means to be a fan. etc.

OO OOOOO
See if you could get them to write on the “what to bring to soar” flyer/website:
under the ‘what not to bring’ section put GEAR OF ANY OTHER SCHOOL - UNLESS YOU INTEND TO BURN IT IN THE ‘CHARLOTTE PRIDE’ BONFIRE.

Im on it! Ill go to the Dean of Students office tomorrow and get a meeting set up. Anyone want to join me in a meeting? It wont be tomorrow but I can set it up for a future date. Ill get the F-in Dean of Students herself in on it. She loves me! And she is very fair…we just have to convince her it is something that is needed.

Shes a Tennesee grad…so she knows all about School spirit.
