If all you care about is winning sure. If college sports was more than wins to you, then it is pointless. I have no desire to watch substandard professional sports that aren’t college sports.
I also dont donate to the Panther or the Hornets so why in the hell would i donate to this charade?
If this doesn’t get fixed then the end result of this is the same as monopoly - a couple of brands will survive - every other program will fold or be driven down to a bare existence state that is a shadow of what it once was. People just won’t support this model where a few programs with hugely wealthy boosters buy championships. It’s inevitable.
I still care. What I don’t understand is why folks who say they don’t care, not going to financially support, but use this board daily to disparage at every opportunity, still come here to bitch and moan that they don’t care, won’t support financially, but still come here. Why? Just check out, don’t come here and lead a happier life.
I posted this on discord a few days ago. This is where I am right now.
There needs to be 2 different paths. A path for mostly P2/P4 schools who bring in enough revenue to pay players millions and a path for everyone else who can’t afford to compete at that level. The everyone else path would be the G6 and anyone from the P4 who doesn’t want to play that game anymore. This group should agree on a unified media rights deal where all schools get an equal base media payout and every athlete in a given sport gets paid an equal amount from their school based on revenue earned by that sport. There could be merit based bonuses for schools who make the post season and win championships and those could be shared with the athletes. Do whatever it takes (collective bargaining, anti-trust exemption) to sign players to binding 2 year contracts with buyouts if they want to leave for another school or move up to the super league. There needs to be a split. 75% of us aren’t playing the same game as the top 25%.
