Remember how DiJuan helped us land Derrio? Hopefully he passes that down.

fun read on dawson. spears replacement?

check out their stats and look at his FT%, it’s Shaq-esque. I think this kid might be a fall back plan for Mike Thorne.

Great read. But I’d say he’s more like an Antwon Coleman replacement (+15 lbs).

Also, the ESPN recruiting page said:

game is efficient but not flashy. He doesn't have too many moves in his arsenal, but is able to consistently score or get to the free-throw line with a basic drop step move since he goes hard at the defender, initiates contact, and finishes at a consistent rate.

My hunch is that he’s more in shape that Coleman.

He benches 350 and runs a freakin 4.5 40. Yeah I’d say he’s in shape. Btw that article listed him at 6’6 280. If he’s as quick as they say, he could be a matchup nightmare, despite the lack in height.

So you’re saying we won’t need to find another tractor tire?

No, in fact I hear he eats them for breakfast.
Word has it that Javon Dawson fills his cereal bowl with tractor tires instead of cheerios.

If his numbers are true, he should be playing football. Are we sure this is in the right forum?

He gave up football due to injuries.

I didn’t see this info the free section?

Anyways, here’s his Rivals profile. Not much info. Big guy, apparently athletic, will knock people around and not take threes. (Oh yeah, new coach where bigs play in the paint) ;D

Lefty, this free profile shows the offer, visit, etc: http://rivals.yahoo.com/charlotte/basketball/recruiting/player-Javon-Dawson-118352

Ok, so if you just happen to go to the Basketball Recruiting DB and use the prospect search feature and enter 2011 & Charlotte, you get Dawson and all others we’re after. Pretty cool actually.

yep, I check it several times a day to see if a new name pops up.

If those numbers are correct this guy would be a beast as a 3/4 combo assuming he can dribble at all.

He’s quick enough to play small forward… but there’s nothing small about him lol that’s awesome. Spears is a good undersized PF, but I wish he was quicker so he could play SF due to his height. It sounds like we could actually play this guy at the 3 which would then terrorize just about anyone we played.

Saw on Fbook that Spears posted he’s lost 18 pounds this offseason, hopefully that will improve the quickness. I’d love to see a lineup of Deuce, Derrio, Spears/CB, and Big Phil against some smaller teams.

I can promise you guys right now that this guy will never play sf for us. Ever. He will be a pf, and maybe due to matchups or being shorthanded, a center.

I agree with Chisox, Dawson would play as a PF, and a C if we are in a pickle.
