Jervon Pressley - C 2011

Since NA and Utter mentioned the C/PF from Waddell H.S. attended 2009 Niner Madness…

Scout.com: Jervon Pressley profile

From Scoutsfocus.com:

Jervon Pressley (Waddell HS) – Pressley a 6’8” PF/C has a great motor, strong build, and is a super interior defender. He like (Charlotte Christian's 6-8 PF Anthony) Gill is ready to make a giant leap forward.

Scoutsfocus.com: Battle of the Classes NC vs SC

From Elite75Prep.com:

Big man award of the day hands down goes to 2011 6'8 PF Javon (sic) Pressely from Charlotte, NC. He flat out dominated inside dunk after dunk. Not to mention a list of block shot to match.

I thought Gill had graduated?

Saw mention of Chris Cheeks from Richmond, where our coach played at VCU. Any relation?

Rivals profile - Before the Charlotte visit, he had a Top 3 of South Carolina (leader), Ole Miss, and Baylor. All have offered according to rivals. He said back in June that he planned to verbal in the fall, so he can fully focus on basketball for his junior year.
Jervon Pressley, C – At 6-7 and graced with size 20 sneakers, we’ll bet this kid turns himself into a player. He’s got wide shoulders and fought Harper. He got in trouble when he tried to handle the ball but we’ll forgive his youthful aggression and focus on his shot blocks and tenacity to score in the paint. Loved him as a prospect.
If they’re anything like dad, they’ll be helluva good college bball players.

I didn’t know he was such a good college player…

Heard a rumor that Jervon will be in the house for the Smith game.

Major talent and local kid who is interested in staying home. There’s a story up on NinerReport. I have heard from outside of NinerReport that it’s between us and USC. Of course, he’s a few years away. It would be great to land 2 or 3 of the talented local players.

the return of Curtis Withers?

Getting Pressley and Tyler Lewis would be huge for us. In the 2009 NC/SC game, Lewis and Pressley both were standouts for their respective classes. A good season this year will only help our already good chances with these two players.

Pressley was just extended another scholarship offer - this time by the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Moss2k believed that Charlotte was Pressley’s leader and even after the coaching change, Pressley still had a Top 3 of Charlotte, Ole Miss, and South Carolina.

That was from February. I’m not certain if he is a target of our new staff at this point in time. I think Lutz & Co. backed off eventually because of grades.

Rivals - no rating

Scout - 3 star

ESPN - 90 rating

Ole Miss, Georgia St, Baylor, Charlotte, App St, Cincinnati, South Carolina have all offered. Seton Hall, Clemson & Temple have any recently expressed interest, per rivals.com

Evaluation / Notes On the Trail / Features Status Undeclared
Scouts Grade 88
Considering:
[ul] [li][/li][/ul]
Evaluation April, 2010: Excellent size with big hands and strong legs are the obvious physical traits of this powerful North Carolinian. He posts up early in the possession but losses interest if the ball does not come his way. Lacks basic offensive skills and does not always give maximum effort. On the defensive end he seemed more into the game blocking numerous shots off his defender and grabbed clutch rebounds. He goes for boards out of his area and is a fine outlet passer. March, 2010: Because of his long wing span this kid plays much bigger than his 6-7 height. He is very active running the floor and is an excellent offensive rebounder in transition knifing his way to the rim. He is more athlete than basketball player at the moment and most likely needs to play in an up-tempo system to take advantage of his athleticism, but the kid was a warrior that challenged everything that came his way and thrived on the physical play in the paint. He is an aggressive poster that is still developing back to the basket moves.
Notes Travel Team: Team United…VCU and Ole Miss are coming on strong…

we are not mentioned by Jervon in this latest update (free article)
