Jesse Pistokache - 2015 PG/SG - decommitted from Charlotte

These videos tell you pretty much nothing. They are just highlight films. You can make a highlight film look good for almost any high school starter. Just pick 3 or 4 scores from multiple games and boom you have a film. The kid though apparently was a top ranked 8th grader which may explain why he has moved around everywhere but the lack of offers is the biggest concern. So…can Major just recruit our players from now on and we can get someone else to coach them?

RT @courtcred: Jesse Pistokache recently committed to UNC- Charlotte. He’s a 6’3 combo guard that’s crafty, shows toughness and can shoot it.

We’ve got to hope this kid is a diamond in the rough. We are going to need guard help next year.

i’ve come on maybe a few times too many berating posters for potentially undermining our recruiting by trashing high school players who have decided/might decide to come here. no need to enumerate the potential pitfalls. but can’t we just keep our mouths shut at least AFTER a kid verbals fercryinout loud!!! it just could be that the coaching staff has a little more info/basketball IQ and actually would like for this kid to attend!

the apparent attempt to present your superior basketball wisdom is not becoming. in fact it suggests that you might not know whatthehellyou’re talking about. especially since the majority on this board (EVEN this board!) has agreed that the current staff can evaluate talent and recruit it when they see it.
so, again…welcome mr. pistokache. but not only “welcome”. we respect you.

Take it easy Early. “If” a kid reads this board and chooses that he or she doesn’t want to attend a university that is giving them a free education because a bunch of old fart graduates speak their mind or even troll, they probably are not ready for college. Some of you guys get way to worked up.

That said I hope the kid works hard and becomes a great 49er. We need some great players.

Jesse’s voice may be a little higher than we once thought by the time he arrives on campus.

do we give scollies for “Choir”? :-X

looks like a pretty stout lad!

I don’t suppose you had to have lived on a reservation to have your style influenced by the style of basketball they play on reservations. “Rez ball,” I read in the NYT, is “an up-tempo style that is joyful, feverish and fearless.” Maybe this is not applicable. I have no idea.

There are something like 10,000 DI players, and like 5 of them identify as Indian.

Again, I don’t know if any of this applies, but it’s interesting anyway.

don’t know whether he plays Rez Ball or not. my guess: he was probably brought up with it and it greatly influenced him, but has gotten away from it thru a more varied bb experience. but my guess is that he’s as tough as nails. i’d like to know what happened right after that picture was taken! two things generally re those tough NAs: they love their basketball and they love Pepsi. Dale Halton will love him!

I’m actually pretty excited about this kid.

Seems to be a smart guy. Looks to have a college ready frame. He shoots FT’s at like 90%.

If he just plays limited mistake basketball, I’ll be happy with him even if he’s not much of a scorer as a freshman. More than anything next year we need someone to handle the ball. PG is otherwise looking like a major weakness next year. Woods and Braxton are good players, but I’d rather them be scorers than primary ball handlers.

i can hardly wait! not so much b/c he’s a proven 4-5* work, but b/c he comes from a tough proving-ground and has the toughness to be a leader. i hate to say it (publicly) but i think what we have lacked among our upperclassmen is exactly…toughness. we have guys that are strong. I.e., clayton, thorne. but we need some TOUGH guys. and you don’t have to be an “outlaw” to be tough.
come on, Jesse!!!

Any word if he is still onboard with the coaching change?
Any word if he is still onboard with the coaching change?
There have been no updates that I’ve seen/heard since Price was announced.

I was a guard in high school. If I got a schollie to a school, and a coaching change meant that I got to play for a guy like Mark Price, I would definitely not give that up for the world. You never know what a teenager is thinking though.

Not sure why the font got so big on that post. I didn’t change anything.

i would think that jesse would be dancing on his ear. what a break to play under one of the best guards ever! and a great teacher.

Exactly!!

Another one bites the dust:
