John Cannon - 2011 C

Burnsville is like a hundred miles away and tomorrow is the first day of the contact period. I wonder if we’ll convince him to take a visit.

My guess is he’ll go to the biggest school that’ll have him.

Hal, I think we can forget about Cannon. He’s going to a power conference.

I know we can forget about him 2k. Just listing the the school that is currently at the top of his list 2k.

I hope he’s going there for academic reasons. Maybe he thinks he can get them to the NCAA tournament for the first time. C’mon, John, how about staying in state and helping us get BACK to the NCAA tournament.

If that’s the case then he should go to an academic power conference like the Ivy league :stuck_out_tongue:

He’s trying to split the difference and have his cake and eat it too.

sounds like Northwestern might be making Cannon walkon there as well.

Must be nice to be able to recruit walk-ons. How many times has this happened in the past where players we offered decided to walk-on at a BCS school instead?

Once, Simmons is the only one I’m aware of.

Good, just making sure it’s a rare occurence. Still can’t believe he’s doing that. Wonder how disappointed he’s going to be when a slew of 4 and 5 star players keep on coming through.

What would really burn me if I was Simmons was that this kid, Stilman White, who was recruited at a lot lower level than Simmons ends up getting a scholarship to chapel hill really late in the game. Thats got to smart. I would be like, “Thats my damn schollie!”

Hopefully if the White kid gets the schollie, we will place a call to Simmons. He has not signed a NLI, so he can still be contacted despite his commitment.

White will get the scholarship. He’s going to play 1 year, take his mission, then come back to UNC-CH.

Gotcha. Heard someone talking about this kid in a conversation, but never heard his name mentioned. They were discussing him being a Mormon and doing as you said, playing a year, leaving, then coming back. That will probably be enough bait to keep Simmons engaged with Chapel Hill.

Northwestern isn’t even a good program… holy crap. Cannon don’t do that.
